(Chapter 1) Today's THE day

It was a lovely winter we were having this summer. I remember it like it was yesterday, it was the day I met the love of my life. It was the day I met HER.

It was just another ordinary day, the sun shining, but not enough to keep me warm. I jumped out of bed, threw on some leggings, my running shoes, sports bra and a hoody. I knew I'd regret it once I got my jog on but at least I could take it off once I got too hot. I made my way downstairs, greeted by the sound of happy little feet. Not just any feet, little paws, getting all excited and happy to see me. It was my gorgeous dog, lady. A working spaniel. She was the only girl I had in my life at the moment, as she was the only one that remained loyal to me. Even if I didn't always give her the time and attention she deserved. She wouldn't go and love somebody new, unlike some of my previous girlfriends. Lady was getting so excited as she knew because I had my sports clothes on, it mean it was time for our morning run. I grabbed a cup of coffee and an actimel out of the fridge. I wasn't really a breakfast kinda girl, but forced myself to have something small first thing, you know just to give me some energy for the day.

I grabbed Lady's lead, which was one of those ones that wrapped around my waist. It made our runs a lot easier.

We got to the park and I let Lady loose. She chased the ducks around the lake and even jumped in the water to cool off. I was tempted to join her, but the fear of looking like a crazy person stopped me. I decided to take my hoody off and wrapped it around my waist. Sweat now dripping off my body. We'd been running for 3/4 miles, when Lady suddenly spotted another dog. I panicked as she ran straight up to it. It kinda looked like a Staffordshire terrier. But as we got closer, it's bat like ears made it pretty obvious it was a French bulldog. I called for Lady to come back and immediately she did as I said. She was very good off the lead and the most loving dog in the world, so I wasn't worried she'd hurt the French bulldog. I was more concerned that she would annoy him/her and the owner. Me and Lady continued our run but she wouldn't stop looking behind her. That's when I realised the French bulldog had been following us. I thought he was on a lead at first glance, which he was. But it was one of those extendable leads. I followed the trail and could see a very tall, skinny lady, looking a little frustrated. The lead wasn't retracting back.

I walked over to the lady who was very apologetic. I smiled and reassured her not to worry. I offered a helping hand and went to grab the lead from the lady, accidentally touching her hand. It was such an awkward moment, so I tried to make a joke and said "Sorry I wasn't trying to hold your hand, let me take a look at that for you. These things are tricky."

She blushed and giggled a little as she offered the lead and said "Thanks. I don't know what's wrong with me this morning, I'm not with it."

I clicked the little button on the side and the lead retracted back. Bringing the French bulldog with it. Immediately, the dog jumped up me and his size was very deceiving. Although he looked quite small, he was very stocky and knocked me off my feet. Then continued to lick me all over my face. I giggled as the lady shouted out "JACKSON! STOP IT!"

"It's fine honestly, he just wants to give me kisses."

At this point Lady was getting jealous and soon came running over and piled on top too. She wasn't used of seeing me with other dogs and I don't think she liked it very much. She liked having me all to herself. As I pushed the dogs off me, sort of giggling, I noticed the beautiful young woman, holding her hand out to help me up. I took her hand in mine and pulled myself up, brushing myself down. As I reached her height, we stood face to face. That's when I noticed how stunning she actually was. I was speechless and just stopped in my tracks, staring at her. I must have looked like a right creep... And she definitely sensed something was up as she asked "are you okay?" her voice now sounding very concerned.
