"So let me get this straight," said Spyro, "You're saying that I can fly?"

"Precisely," said Ignitus.

"No, that's not right, I've never been able to fly, my wings aren't right for flying," replied Spyro.

"Maybe not for dragonflies, but you are a dragon, Spyro, and with my help, you will be able to," said Ignitus.

"But I've never learned a thing about flying, and you want me to rescue the  other guardians as fast as I can," said Spyro.

"There is nothing you need to learn, Spyro," said Ignitus, "Close your eyes and focus, and you will remember what your ancient blood already knows."

Spyro did as instructed. He screwed up his eyes again and concentrated hard. To his astonishment, his long unused wings began to move of their own accord, and he felt the ground fall away from beneath his feet. When he opened his eyes, he found he was hovering a good five feet in the air.

"Hey, hey! Welcome to the club, Spyro!" said Sparx.

"Would that be the annoying pest club?" asked Spyro, with a smile.

"No, genius, the flying club," retorted Sparx.

"Well done, Spyro," said Ignitus, "But right now, time is of the essence. The tundra is located north of here. When you reach the ocean, follow the island chain, and they'll lead you straight there. Before you leave, I must tell you about the Tundra,

It is a desolate place, filled with the frozen machinery of war. These ancient warriors are frozen in the midst of battle, which means if they are thawed, they will attempt to attack you. Use your fire wisely while you are there."

"What should we do if Cynder's there?" asked Spyro.

"Run," answered Ignitus, "You are no where near ready to encounter Cynder yet, so if she turns up, come straight back here."

Ignitus directed them from the temple, and soon Spyro and Sparx, for the first time ever, were flying together.

"I could get used to this!" yelled Spyro. As instructed, they flew to the shore, and then followed the long chain of small islands to the tundra.

"What should we do if we get lost?" asked Sparx.

"Like Ignitus said, just follow the islands. They'll either get us there or lead us back to shore," said Spyro.

On they flew, and soon enough, as expected, they flew out over the ocean and found the chain of small Islands Ignitus had mentioned.

"Spyro..." said Sparx, "Are those ships?"

Spyro looked down, and he too saw what Sparx meant. Massive ships were sailing around the islands. As he watched, one of them began to fire at them.

"Woah!" Spyro shouted, swerving out of the way of a flying cannonball.

"What are they shooting at us for?" asked Sparx.

"They must be guarding the Tundra!" replied Spyro. The ships continues to fire in their direction. Closer inspection of them showed Spyro all of them were being manned by apes.

On they flew, avoiding any fire from ships as best they could. This worked for a while, but soon things got even more complicated.

Massive, bat-like creatures, each being ridden by an ape, were flying toward them.

"Oh, great! Now they can fly!" said Sparx. The bats began to circle them, and after a while, one of them advanced.

Spyro, on instinct, blasted a massive fireball in its direction. It quickly fell, spiralling down into the ocean below.

Soon, Spyro noticed that some of the islands were capped with snow.

"We must be getting close!" he shouted. Soon enough, the outline of a huge frozen plain was visible on the horizon.

"There it is, Sparx!" Spyro called out.

"Great! Let's get there now and away from these things!" replied Sparx.

The bats continued to attack him, but Spyro kept them at bay with more fireballs. Soon, they were flying past gigantic icebergs.

"Almost there!" said Spyro. The bats couldn't follow them through the narrow gaps between the towers of ice, and so they flew on alone and safe.

Soon, they landed on an icy beach next to a gigantic glacier, into which many doors and windows and battlements had been carved.

"It looks like a giant ice fortress!" said Spyro, "I'll bet anything that's where Volteer is!"

Overhead, there came a roar, and the silhouette of a giant dragon flew above them. It looked like the thing had had chased them in the swamp.

"Is that Cynder?" asked Sparx.

"I hope so..." said Spyro.

"Why would you hope that?!" relied Sparx.

"Because if it isn't, that means there's two giant evil dragons going around," said Spyro.

"Oh," said Sparx sheepishly, "Good point."

"Come on, we need to rescue Volteer," said Spyro. They began to move toward the fortress before them.
