Daichi straightened his hair and adjusted his scarf so it covered his mouth.
It was freezing. Delicate snowflakes flew everywhere and the floor was covered by a light layer of snow. Even though it wasn't Christmas yet, all the shops and cafes were decorated with colourful lights, small Santa's hanging from the windows and Christmas trees of all sizes.
Daichi looked at his watch. He still had a couple of hours until the time agreed with Sugawara and the others.
This last week had been busy. Midterms were really close and Quidditch's pre-season was about to end. Daichi wasn't good at studying - he even had to ask some Ravenclaw friends to help him from time to time - and, even though he was good at Quidditch, being the captain during this time of the year just produced him anxiety.
However, he still bothered to search the hallways for a grey haired boy that he could smile to.
Daichi shook his head. He had been standing in the middle of the street for ages.
"If Iwaizumi was here he would've already hit me." He thought, remembering how impatient his roommate was.
Daichi walked around the shops, just to warm up and see what was in stock, but he didn't went inside any of them - he couldn't afford to buy everything he wanted. He was tempted to, though, when he passed in front of the Quidditch store in Hogsmeade, but he sighed and went on.
After a while, he saw Kiyoko sitting by herself in a small coffee shop and went inside.
Kiyoko and Daichi had always been friends. Their families had know each others for years and, before they were casted into their respective houses, they would always talk and play together. Now their relationship was a bit distant - they only talked from time to time -, but Kiyoko would always be someone that he could go to.
The shop was almost empty. A couple was in a table apart from the rest, whispering to each other things in the ear. Their hands were intertwined.
Daichi rolled his eyes and decided not to look at them anymore.
Kiyoko was sitting in a table next to the counter, with lots of books around her and a giant cup of tea. She wasn't aware of Daichi's presence.
He ordered coffee to the girl in the counter and went to her table.
"That's a whole lot of books you have here." Kiyoko looked up, almost surprised. "May I sit?"
Kiyoko nodded and smiled at the same time, but went back to her books immediately.
Daichi sat in front of her, waiting for his coffee. He looked at his watch again, checking that he still had time left and leaned over Kiyoko.
"What are you reading?" He read the title of one of the books. "'The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 4'? Are you planning on doing fourth year again?"
Kiyoko blushed and took the book away from him.
"It's not for me, obviously." Kiyoko sighed and took a sip from her cup. "I'm meeting someone from fourth year that has asked me to help them. I'm just revising content."
Daichi raised his eyebrows, surprised. He had always thought that Kiyoko was the type of girl who wasn't interested in love or relationships in general. And teaching someone younger than her? Daichi had never seen that type of behaviour in her before.
There was an awkward silence in which Kiyoko took another sip and deliberately looked away but, thank God, the girl from the counter cleared her throat and asked Daichi to get his coffee.
"So, this... person." Daichi left his coffee on the table and sat again. "Are they cute or something?"
Kiyoko blushed again in response.
