As soon as I shut the door behind me, Piper ran straight into me. “WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!” she whispered furiously. I looked at her confused for a moment, then realized what must be happening. “Annabeth and Percy are walking down the aisle! That leaves only Miranda and Connor before you’re up!”

I nearly screamed, but for once was able to keep it in. Piper and I ran across the chapel, our heels clicking across the granite tile floor. I hurled right into the sanctuary just in time and nearly fell. I made a mental note never to wear four inch heels again. Flustered, I straightened myself and walked down the aisle with a dignified air. I noticed subconsciously that a few hairs had fallen out of their place. Oh well.

As I floated up the aisle, I glanced at the people around me. In the front row sat the Olympians. Well, not all of them, but my mom, Demeter, Travis’s dad, Hermes, Poseidon, Athena, and my half-sister Persephone. I shuddered to think that my brother-in-law was Hades. Wait a second, wasn’t he also my uncle? This is too confusing. When I approached the end of the walkway, I put my messed up family out of my mind and gave Travis a huge smile. I could tell from the way he looked he was nervous.  His face was slightly redder than normal, and his eyes didn’t have the same mischievous glint as they normally do. I realized he was trying to be good! Well I guess there’s a first for everything!

The vows flew past and after what seemed like a few seconds, the rings were brought before us. I went first, slipping the shiny ring over Travis’s slim finger. As Travis approached with his ring, I could feel the anxiety radiating off him. His hand slightly trembling, he held the ring between his two fingers and… dropped it. I couldn’t help it. I started laughing out loud. Annabeth started giggling, and soon the entire wedding party was practically dying from laughter. I gave myself a mental face palm before getting down on my knees and helping Travis find the missing ring.

“Sorry,” he whispered at me.

“It’s fine, we needed to lighten up anyway,” I said. Smiling, the anxiety gone, we both stood up and he slipped the ring onto my finger. The entire wedding party began to applaud. Travis waved a hand at them jovially and we finished the rest of the marriage smoothly.
