Author's note: I am soooooooo sorry! I have not updated in forever. Do you know how busy spring is for me? Well, it’s really busy. To make up for it, I will try to write as many chapters as fast as i can. Be prepared for a lot of chapters!
“No, April, not over there! Sorry Annabeth, I’ve got to go.” I hung up the phone and hurried over to April. “April, no kitchen. April living room.” I was working on my baby speak. I had been reading many books about first year milestones and we only have hit one – crawling. Now April crawled all over the place, especially in places where little girls were not supposed to be. I called Annabeth for some tips. She told me she had to use the leash with her son, Rion. Her other idea was child proof gates. I decided Annabeth wasn’t going to be much help in this scenario. She may treat her kids like animals, but I refused to do so myself. Once I had finished putting April safely inside her play pen, the phone rang. I glanced at the caller ID. It was Piper. Wow, I had not heard from Piper since April was born. I picked up the phone. “Hello?”
“Hey, girlfriend!” came Piper’s voice. “So, I just had this totally awesome idea!”
“Hold up! I haven’t heard from you in six months! How are things with you and Jason?”
“Things are good. I’m still waiting for him to get the guts to propose.”
“Good luck with that,” I commented.
“Yeah, I know. I feel like a loner. All you guys are already married and have children and stuff. I wish Jason would stop being so slooooooooooow.”
“What about Leo?”
“I don’t know what’s going on in his head. I mean, he’s still hung up on Calypso, but he also just found out that he has about a million fan girls….”
“I see… So what was your awesome idea?”
“Oh right! So, you know my birthday is next month, right. Well I wanted you all to come over for my birthday. We could just, like, hang out. Well, then I remembered that you guys have children and stuff. So I had an awesome idea. You guys could have a baby play date and the adults could have a real date. Am I genius or what?”
“That is actually a really good idea!” I said rather stupidly.
“I still have to talk to Annabeth and Hazel, but I’ll let you guys know the date ASAP.”
“Okay. Bye!” I hung up. At least I’ll have something to do next month while I’m out from work on maternity rest. I grabbed some baby food on the shelf and pulled April out of her play pen. Here we go again I think to myself. Just then, the front door opens. It’s Travis.
“How was work,” I ask, half listening, half not.
“Eh.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Eh.”
“What do you want for dinner?”
“Eh.”
“Fine then you can make dinner.”
“Daddy”
“What did you say?”
“I didn’t say anything,” answered Travis.
“Daddy!”
I looked down at April
“Daddy!” She repeated. It took a second for me to process what had just happened. Then I screamed.
“OH MY GOSH SHE JUST SAID HER FIRST WORD!!!”
“OH MY GOSH HER FIRST WORD WAS DADDY!” Travis joined in. “I told you she would say daddy before she said mommy!” We had argued over what word she would say first for about a month now.
“You still have to make dinner,” I said, turning away. “And by the way, its your turn to feed April dinner.” I grinned a malicious smile.
“No fair!” Came Travis’s voice behind me. But I had already gone into the other room.
