The moment Alice stepped into the rental store, she felt the sudden gush of wind coming from the air-conditioning above the doorway hit her nape, making her wince on her spot.

She gave the man behind the cashier a quick smile before proceeding to the aisles filled with DVDs still with goosebumps all over her body. She didn't expect the place to be so cold.

The cashier guy was actually quite lucky; he didn't have to endure the heat of summer since he's locked up in the air-conditioned building all day and probably even all night long. The place was small and it was the only video rental store in town. People only often visit the place because who needs DVDs when you've got Netflix. Because of that, he didn't have to bother with customers.

Alice thought that she could use a job like that.

The girl scanned all of the titles in the display cases and when she noticed that the film she was looking for wasn't there, she tilted her head.

"Excuse me!" She stood up straight so that the guy in front could see her amongst all of the aisles and called for his attention, "Do you have A Clockwork Orange?"

"Sorry miss, someone had rented it already." Answered the cashier guy.

"Huh . . . " Alice murmured to herself and frowned. She then snatched a movie titled Pretty Woman that caught her interest.

As she waited in front of the cashier, she thought to herself that whoever rented A Clockwork Orange had good taste.

Alice felt like she was receiving some sort of aromatherapy because the whole place wonderfully smelled like coffee.

As she was fixing her ponytail and her apron, someone was already in line picking out something from the menu. She looked up and couldn't even be surprised for a minute because she was supposed to greet him a 'good afternoon', but the man abruptly spoke up so she couldn't do so.

"An iced latte and a strawberry frappe please."

          "Would that be all?"

"Yeah." The man nodded and paid for the drinks.

There were three things that were noteworthy about the man. One was his disheveled, somewhat red hair, the second was his clear brown eyes, and the third was the black piercing on his left earlobe. It wasn't everyday she'd see man like him.

"One iced latte and one strawberry frappuccino." Alice placed the two cups on the counter.

"Thanks." The man got his latte and turned around, leaving Alice with the strawberry frappe.

          "Um, sir!" She called out.

He turned around and stared at her, all the while taking a sip from his coffee. He saw Alice holding onto the frappuccino which made his lips curl up to form a smile, "That's yours."

Then all she saw was the man's back profile being swallowed by the crowd when he left the café—his denim jacket that complimented the color of his hair stood out the most.

A sigh of disbelief left Alice's lips, and that was it.
