Vanilla ice cream was slowly melting away on Kai's forefinger and thumb as he strolled around the neighborhood under the blazing sun.

Marco was right when he said that the heat could easily give anyone a tan. Kai pondered if it was truly possible to cook an egg atop the hood of a car with this heat.

A motorcycle blared through the street, making the group of sun-bleached girls that were hanging out at the shade of a patio table with an umbrella look up from their phones.

For a moment, Kai missed his 'sexy' chrome black motorcycle, as he calls it. He had it sold because he and his uncle needed the money. At least he's not empty-handed when it comes to transportation since he could use his uncle's trusty CR-V anytime, but he never really liked it. He was more of a rider than a driver.

Besides, he'd rather not drive anymore. Walking could actually get you to your destination in a town this small.

Kai passed by the sandwich place where his uncle always goes to. He frequently goes home with a bag.

Kai quickly became acquainted with James, the man behind the counter, because his uncle kept on mentioning him every time he drops by. Plus, Kai was the town's troublemaker, so he quite of made a name for himself.

"What is it this time?" James pushed his glasses up and smirked. The man was skinny and pale with black, wavy hair and a dimpled smile. He looked someone whose bones would crack with just a single push.

"How about two of those sick lamb shish-kebab sandwiches of yours?"

James shook his head, "I thought you're gonna try everything in the menu first before going back to something you've already ordered?"

Kai responded with a casual shrug, "I'm craving."

"How's Kevin doing? He hasn't been around, I noticed."

"Is it because of that one sandwich he hasn't paid until now?"

"How do you know about that?"

Kai grinned, "Don't worry, I got it." He placed a few small bills in front of the man.

James let out a small laugh and placed a plastic bag on the counter, "I heard you shoplifted at the supermarket again."

         "It was just Gatorade, James!"

"I don't suppose I could blackmail you with what I've learned?"

"Psh, why don't you try?" Said Kai while going through his wallet.

"You should stop causing trouble for your uncle, Kai."

Once Kai was at the doorway, he turned his head around and stuck his tongue out with his brows furrowed. It made James laugh.

         "See ya."

Alice was crouching in front of the pet shop, cooing at the puppies playing by themselves at the window.

She was going around town with her bike when she caught sight of the adorableness. She wished she had one now so she could roam the streets with a puppy in her bicycle basket.

Alice wiggled her finger at a tiny pug that approached the glass window. It brought a smile to her face.

"Don't you think pugs are overrated? I think they are."

The person behind her with a plastic bag in hand made her startled. Alice turned around and raised an eyebrow at the familiar man.

He shot her a smile and walked to the other window where the kittens were, "Maybe it's because I'm more of a cat person?" He said to himself and gazed softly at the kittens.
