Chapter Ten

Everybody always tells you what they thought their first kiss was, but they never tell you if they ever had a kiss where where it was more memorable. Whenever Duke kisses me I feel like that was the most memorable, I'll never find anyone else who is anywhere close to that. Laine wasn't.

Anyways, I get that thought out of my head and I remember about the ski trip my school is planning to Jasper. Only a few people were allowed to go and Duke and I just happen to be on that list of people.

Since the teachers think we are going to do "adult things" at 14 and 15 years old, we have to stay in different rooms. I have a room with Delainey, Ashley and Ashley's friend Cora.

My parents allowed for Duke to come over for a while to help me pack. My mom was really great about Duke when I told them we were dating, my dad took some convincing by both my mom and me but after I told him how happy he made me my dad couldn't say no.

I had to clean my room thoroughly before Duke came over, I had to hide some "Girly things" as well. I just finished putting the last pillow on my bed when the doorbell rang. I had to beg my parents to go grocery shopping or just leave the house for the night (until 9pm, when Duke has to leave). My sister does so much diploma prep now that she's barely ever home.

I pretty much sprint down the stairs and open the door to a very handsome looking Duke. I give him a hug that I have to raise onto my tiptoes for and he walks in and kicks off his shoes.

"I have all my stuff upstairs." I state starting to walk up the stairs, he follows.

"This will be the first time I'll see your room." Duke says in a deep voice.

"Don't say it like that." I say smacking his arm lightly.

Duke puts his arms up like he's surrendering and walks into my room. I instantly regret every choice I made on my room. The door less closet was not my brightest decision and my non-matching anything makes me want to push him out of my room right this second. I have a zebra print comforter and a black make-up table/ dresser, a oak wood bookshelf and I took the doors off my closet so there are no baseboards, just ridged pieces of drywall sticking out around the edges.

"I'm so sorry, I thought my room looked better than this." I state putting my head in my hand.

"I like it." He says a little to excited and sits down on my make-up table chair thing.

"Okay then...well, let's ignore the nastiness that is my room and you can help me pack."

I hold up one of my favorite T-shirts.

"No." Duke says blankly, he has no expression what-so-ever.

"Why?" I question while my voice goes to a very high pitch.

He sighs, "because, if you want to be warm you can't where a T-shirt. You have to where a sweater or long sleeve shirt." He walks over to my closet and looks at my sweaters, flipping through each one. "Umm, wear this one." Duke pulls out my grey sweater that I bought for the Olympics. It has Canada across the back.

I take it from his hands, fold it nicely and put it in my duffle bag.

I'm glad Duke is the one helping me. He is an amazing skier and I'm not just saying that; he used to race and he has 26 gold medals from just ski racing. I've skied most of the mountains and can do blue square runs. I would say I'm only an intermediate skier so with Duke being an advanced skier he can help me out, I guess.

Laine skis too, we used to ski together a lot actually. I don't really know what happened, we just kind of...stopped.
