His legs dangled into the shallow pool. The cool light liquid kissed his toes as he moved his feet in soft circular motions. The universe was silent. Listening.

Time stood still at the edge of the cosmos. There was nowhere to run. Nothing to run from. Over the horizons he had no meaning. Like an unknown colour that has no name...

As he breathed, tiny buds burst from the shores of the eternity lake and twisted around his ankles. Pulling gently at his feet. He smiled. He leaned down and tickled the flowers. He heard a soft sigh and a breeze caressed the blue twilight.

His eyes were damp with happiness. Was he ready to cross the lake. He was not. He was happy. He was calm. He would stay here. Stuck in this forever with no beginning or end. He could not risk his peace. Peace. Peace.

The lake pulled him in.
