¤CHAPTER TWO¤
To say I was uncomfortable would be an understatement.
As soon as I walked in all eyes were on me. Trying my best to ignore all the curious stares walked up to the teacher's desk.
"Hi, I'm the new student ." I say in a quiet voice. The feeling of being watched makes me feel self conscious.
It took him a minute or two to look at me. "Ms.Knight I presume?" I nodded.
" Your seat is right there behind Linaya, Linaya can you please raise your hand for..?" He looked at me for help, "It's Normani," I could feel myself becoming annoyed. I just wanted to leave the front of the class as soon as I could.
In the far back I saw an African American girl with head full of black silky curls raise her hand.
As I walked towards the back I felt stares but I ignored them as best as I could. When I reached my new desk I decided to make acquaintance with the girl named Linaya .
"Hi, I'm Normani," I placed out my hand for her to shake. She stares at it for a second before putting her hand in mine. "Linaya ," she replied with a cheeky smile.

For the rest of the period Mr. What's his name again was explaining a new upcoming assignment.
When the bell rang I quickly got out of my seat and started heading for the door unti I heard someone call out to me.
"Hey! Normani," I turned around to see Linaya swiftly walking towards me. "What class do you have next?" I took my schedule out of my pocket and handed it to her.
"Wow, isn't this the little coincidence," she said almost shocked.
"What is?" I looked at my schedule and back at her as she continues to look over my schedule.
"We have literally almost the same classes together."
"Are you serious? That's great!" At least I'd kind of know someone and wouldn't have to be by myself. Knowing this calmed down my nerves.
"What the-" Linaya suddenly reaches out and grabs my face with both of her hands as she peers into my eyes. "Wow, you're eyes are so pretty. How come they're such different colors, " she said more to herself than me.
Realizing she was invading my personal space and practically attacked my face, she apologized.
I reassured her it was okay, things like this weren't new for me. If it was anyone else I could see myself getting mad. But even though I don't know her I can't imagine losing my temper with her for some reason.
"What's taking so long?" I look over my shoulder to find Tyler leaning on the door frame with his arms crossed.
Crap I forgot about him
"Oh, hey Tyler." I say waving awkwardly.
I soon realized he isn't looking at me but staring past me. I turn around to see what has his attention only to be met with a fierce glare.
Currently Tyler are Linaya were in a glaring contest. The air grew more tense when Tyler spoke again, "Let's get going," he pivoted on his heel and stalked off in the opposite direction.
"I'll see you later then I guess," I quickly waved goodbye to Linaya and almost stumbled over my feet running after Tyler.
What was that all about?
"Tyler, wait up!" I heaved. God I'm really out of shape. I haven't even been running for 2 minutes and I'm already slightly winded.
Slowing down his pace for me to catch up, I feel his gaze centered on my face. Looking up at him I arched a brow in question only to realize he was staring at my eyes. "Do you know your eyes are weird ?" not expecting him to say that it took me a moment to process his words.
"What? My eyes look strange? Well It's not like I've known that since the very beginning of my existence or anything. Thank you so much kind stranger for informing me of my unusual features," I could taste the sarcasm dripping from my words and I know he could too.
Tyler just quietly stared at me as I looked back at him then turned around and continued walking until he reached our biology class with me trailing behind him, he picked a table off to the side and motioned me to sit beside him.
As the bell rang alerting students that class was about to start the teacher stood up from her desk and cleared her throat. The first thing I noticed was her shortly cropped red hair to her loose fitting white button up shirt with black slacks.
She must be the cool, laid back teacher, I thought to myself.
"Alright ladies and gentlemen before we start off class I'd like to introduce our new student," she says while gesturing towards me.
Fucking hell. I take it back, she and I aren't gonna get along after the shit she just pulled.
I slowly stand up feeling my discomfort in my knee caps. I hate this.
"Let's start off with introductions shall we? I'll start first, my name is Mrs. Stevens, and yours is..?" letting out a soft sigh as I feel everyone's eyes on me I begin to speak "My name is Normani, nice to make your acquaintance." I say politely.
Mrs. Stevens then clasps her hands together and instructs the class to one by one introduce themselves stating that it'll help make me feel more comfortable with everyone.
And that's what happened in the first 10 minutes of class while the teacher did attendance.
****
Halfway through class I heard the classroom door open. Getting easily distracted, like usual I watched as a tall boy with ink black hair, a sharp jaw, fair skin, and lean figure walk in.
He was beyond handsome. Is there even a word for that?
But what captivated me the most were his eyes, they were just like mine. One being practically a dangerous dark color that made me feel like I'd be pulled in if I don't look away and the other a bright green. They were kept in place by semi monolid eyes.
The once busy classroom now stopped dead still, looking at this unknown boy in the door way. Still captivated by him, I didn't notice the pen that was once in my hand drop to the tile floor.
The sound of it hitting the floor in the now silent classroom caused most people to move their gazes quickly my way, including the dark haired boy.
As soon as we made eye contact, my world exploded with color.
