You stared down at your black dress shoes while clinching the ends of your white, plaid skirt. "I would like her to start school today." When you looked up at your step dad, he gave a cold expression like he always did.
He wore a business suit, had short, brown hair that was always slicked back, and his features were sharp, giving him the seriousness that went with his personality. You couldn't see the reason why you're mother fell in love with that man. But before her disappearance, they were a couple for three years. Sometimes they didn't even act like they were a married couple at all. Not even friends at that.
"I see. Well...It's third period. Are you sure you want her to start now?" The principal was a male, shorter than your stepped dad and even though he might have been a couple of years older. Your step father looked way older than what he actually was, which you had no idea.
"Yes. Is that a problem?" You gave a throat clear, earning you a glance from both Gotou and the principal. "It's my request to start as soon as possible. And after school I can always meet up with the teachers of the classes I missed." You gave sealed lips, pushing the stranded of your (h/c) hair that fell in front of your face. "If that's alright with you then so be it. Welcome to the Cram school."
You flinched slightly after a hand was placed on your shoulder after stepping out of the office into the secretary's room, which she wasn't in at the time. "Straight home. Do I make myself clear?" You gave a nod, feeling the tight grip on your shoulder from his nails. "Yes, sir."
Ever since your mother first introduced Gotou, you were forced to call him sir. Even after the marriage. You weren't fond of him and he wasn't fond of you. The two of you never socialized, even if your mother asked you to. He gave you chills with his mysteriousness, always out late, hardly eats in front of you, his expression the same throughout the day. You tried your best to stay away from him, and when your mother disappeared the night you were left home alone. You became more distant from your step dad, wanting to accuse him but not being able to.
"Oh, hello. Who are you?" You gave a calm smile to a young teacher, your Algebra 2 instructor, after stepping into class while she was teaching, causing at least sixteen pairs of eyes to stare in your direction.
"(Y/n) (L/n). I'm new here." She gave a calm smile as she read through your schedule, as she did so, you glanced around only to see a girl with short hair and classes smiling at you, giving you a greeting with her expression.
You did the same in your next class, introduced yourself to your History teacher, took a seat next to kids whom either gave you welcoming expressions or confused with a hint of disgust mixed into the facial features.
Through your point of view, everyone who gave you a blank stare, like your step dad, were the ones you wanted to stay away from. But you didn't want to get close to anyone either or make yourself noticeable. Reasons?
The parasites, you weren't too quick to judge people when it came to that. You have never met one, seen one in action, and didn't know much about them since you weren't told about them by your mother in any detail.
It was lunch, you stood behind a couple of students you seen in previous classes and as you did so you looked up to see the girl with glasses sit next to a girl with short, maroon like, brown hair, both giggling.
The two girls smiled seeing their male friend sit in front of them after stepping out of the lunch line with a small smirk. "Hey there." "Yeah, what's up?" "Nothing much I. Who's that?" The girl with the red glasses and dark hair, a blackish color, gave a glance to the side along with Murano, the other girl.
"Who? Her?" "She's a new student." "Yeah. (Y/n) I believe is her name. She's into two of my classes so far." You gave a short glance up, only to look back down after making eye contact with a boy sitting in front of the two girls who were also staring at you, making you walk faster and clinch your tray.
You took in a deep breath only to breathe it out, tossing your tray in the trash before pushing open the doors of the cafeteria with an apple in your hand, which you took off the tray as you threw it away. "Why were they staring at me...?" You whispered to yourself as you paced in the bathroom, finishing up the apple just as the bell rang for class to start.
You heard mumbles in the halls, lockers slam, heels of female teachers speed walking to their classrooms as you hesitated to pull open the door to join in the crowd. But when you did, it was too late, the tardy bell rang for fifth period and the halls were empty. "You lost?"
You gave a small gasp, turning to see the boy with brown hair and matching color eyes you seen in the lunchroom, holding a book bag over his shoulder with one hand as the other was placed in his pocket. "Y-yeah.." "Oh, well..what class are you headed to?" You glanced to the side with parted lips, light pink cheeks when you saw him give you a small smirk. "Chemistry." "Same here. Come on."
You followed behind him shyly, you tried your best not to give a small smile after he glanced down at you with one of his own. "I'm Shinichi Izumi." "(Y/n) (L/n)." You shook his right hand, then pulled it back close to you, pushing a strand of your hair to the side as he gave a small throat clear.
"Transfer?" "Yeah..I haven't been to a public school in a while. I was homeschooled for four years." Just before the boy could comment when he opened up the door, you jumped slightly after a deep throat clear was given to the two of you. "Sorry, sir. I was told by the principal to show her around while on the way to class here."
You gave a small smile to him, sitting in a seat next to him for the original student of that seat was absent, for her second day now, making it your permanent seat now after the instructor said so.
"So..tell me about yourself." It was after school and Shinichi volunteered to walk you home, which you said yes to. You looked down like you did when walking beside him in the halls, and he looked forward and around the neighborhood you were leading him to.
"There's not much about me. I live with my step dad, whom..I don't like. My mother well...it's been about four weeks since her disappearance and..I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't know what a parasite is." When you glanced up, Shinichi was a couple of steps behind you, looking at his right hand as if he was having a flashback or thinking to himself.
"Huh? Well. Don't let that get to you. Not everyone is a monster here. Even if they may seem like it." You gave a small nod as he walked past you, making you follow him soon after. "And I'm sorry for your lost."
You gave a calm smile when you looked up at him after stepping in front of the doorstep of your house. "Thanks for walking me home.." "No problem.." You gave light pink cheeks when he rubbed the back of his neck with his hand, before making eye contact with you then handing you a piece of paper.
"Need anything. That's my..number. I'll see you tomorrow." You gave a nod with a flustered expression. As he walked away after giving you a wave, you stepped inside the house only to see your step dad on the couch, standing up with his usual expression.
"Five minutes ago. You should of been home. What was the delay?" You gave a small swallow, looking down, seeing a picture of you and your mother on the table stand. "Nothing. Back of my heels hurt because of these shoes."
You slipped the piece of paper Shinichi gave you the the pant line of your skirt behind you as Gotou stepped in front of you, looking down at you as you stared up at him. "You need to learn your manners. And watch your tone."
