Sections of Song:

"This is gospel for the fallen ones

Locked away in permanent slumber

Assembling their philosophies

From pieces of broken memories"

"If you love me let me go

If you love me let me go

‘Cause these words are knives and often leave scars

The fear of falling apart

And truth be told, I never was yours

The fear, the fear of falling apart"

Origin of Song:

The song was inspired by Brendon Urie's close friend and P!ATD's drummer Spencer Smith, who had been struggling with addiction. Brendon told Billboard magazine: "I was really on edge and anxious about where the future of the band was going, the future of our friendship in general. With him and his health I was really scared of what was going to happen. When I wrote that song I was mad - mad at myself and mad at him. Like, 'Why can't I do something to fix this? What is wrong with me? What's wrong with you?" Brendon Urie also stated during a Reddit Q&A that "If you love me, let me go" from this song is his favorite line from Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die! In addition, he added: "I started to cry when I was demoing the vocals. That was an incredibly honest moment for me."

My Thoughts:

The origin of this song says it all.  I was in a really bad place two years ago. I was with the wrong group of people and got involved in drugs. At this time, I had a long time girlfriend who didn't know about it until it got serious. Our relationship took a turn for the worse. With her constant attempts to reach out for me, I would refuse any help from her. We would argue all the time about my drug usage but she never left me. But I could see what I was doing to her, it seemed she never smiled at me anymore. I broke things off with her and continued my drug usage. Looking back, I wish I gave up  drugs and not her. Currently, I am drug free but never fully repaired my relationship with her.
