"How do you know where I live?"
"Isn't it obvious by now sweetheart?"
Yeah right!
Nandini's eyes widened
"So you dropped me home that night!"
"Of course I did darling!"
Manik smirked
Nandini went silent in shock. Of course! She should have known
"So what are you? Superman?"
"For you I would be more than happy to be one baby."
God!
She knew he was just teasing but the way he called her baby made her feverish. Was this what people called being turned on? Nandini couldn't do anything but wonder. Cause she was feeling it for the first time. And also there was the usual fluttering of her heart. She never felt this way when Abhay used to call her baby. It was altogether different. In Manik's voice, it was music to her ears and she felt loved...
Wait what?
No! No no no no no no Nandini! Bad idea! Snap out of it! You're about to enter the danger zone! Don't you dare!
Nandini took a cautious glance at Manik as he parked his sleek black sedan in her driveway.
------------------------------------------
"Why wouldn't you tell me what happened between us that night?"
Nandini raised her head to look up at Manik who rolled his eyes and putting his arm around her shoulder, lightly pushed her back to her previous position so that they could relax on the cozy sofa sitting close to each other side by side; with Nandini's head resting on the crook of his neck
"Who said I wouldn't tell you? In fact I did!"
Nandini's head shot back up and she glared at him
"That was just a tiny part of the whole thing Manik. I know I am not a girl who would just kiss a random guy she met at the bar!"
Manik held her shoulders delicately and spoke in an apologetic tone
"Hey, hey calm down! I know you are not that kind of woman. Easy! I was about to tell you the whole thing but I never got the chance. But trust me, I was never playing with your emotions Nandini. I would never do that."
Nandini smiled
"So you do care about me."
Manik let out a sigh
"God! You were going to give me a heart attack do you know that?"
Nandini grinned at him foolishly. It was strange that this man was able to make her happy and forget all the stress of her life within just a few minutes; like he had control over everything.
"So!"
Nandini leaned on the couch again with a mischievous glint in her eyes
"Are you going to tell me?"
Manik nodded his head
"So you are not going to give up, are you?"
Nandini glared at him again and this time it looked like there was a pretty good chance she was going to throw him out of her house; literally.
