This has to just be a nightmare. I up, hoping the whole thing was just a nightmare. When my eyes fluttered opened, I looked around to realize that it wasn't.
I climbed out of the tent slowly looking around until my eyes stopped on Xavier, who was sitting in front of his tent with his head down. I got his attention and asked him what was wrong. Without making eye contact, he whispered out "The doctor came to visit me..." There was blood trickling down from his mouth. "Are you okay?" I asked worriedly.
Xavier just smiled a bit, picking up his head letting his hair across over his face. "I'm okay. He just injected something into me."He explained, pointing to a large bruise on his arm.
I frowned, letting my mind daydream. My attention was brought away from him when my hunger distracted me. "That's terrible.." I murmured, patting my stomach a bit. When do we eat? I asked.
Xavier looked to the wide building and answered, Whenever they want us to eat.
But I thought they said that we get to eat regularly! I said in shock.
They lied. They lie to us about a lot of things. he sighed, climbing back into his tent. I
tried to calm myself when I saw a man in a long white coat. He must have been the doctor.
He was sitting in front of an insane woman who was tearing at her skin and screaming loudly. Hold still! The doctor scolded as he injected a needle into her. She screamed more and started to hit the doctor. Having had enough of the insane woman's screaming, he shoved a cloth deep into her mouth. Her hollering had died away as he injected another needle. There, he said, bringing out a notebook and writing something down. Experiment #12 will not be able to see by tomorrow. Well see how well she gets by. he said to himself as he walked away from the woman, leaving her to try to pull the cloth from her mouth.
I watched in horror and crawled back to my tent when I saw that the doctor was now heading toward me. He ordered me to stop and I reluctantly did. Smiling, he stared into my eyes and set down his suitcase. Don't worry, he said calmly as he clicked open the suitcase to reveal several needles. I just want to try a couple tests on you. I promise it will be over soon.
I gulped, scared out of my mind. I never liked needles.
He got one with an odd greenish liquid in it and asked for my leg. I hesitated but lifted up my leg and glared at his creepy smile. You're a gorgeous specimen, he whispered, stabbing the needle under my knee. I winced and backed away a bit, but he pulled my leg closer.
Hey, we are not done yet. he ordered me to move back towards him. I reluctantly obeyed. The doctors smile faded back on his face and he set the needle down to grab another. He grabbed a red one that looked like it had blood in it. I braced myself for it.
The doctor then asked for me to lean closer. When I did, he stuck the needle and injected the blood-like liquid in me.
What did you put in me? I stammered, looking at my knee and touching my neck.
That's classified information, little lady. The doctor simply said before locking up his suitcase and getting up to move on to the next experiment.
I quickly rushed into my tent, trying to look at my injections. A little blood started seeping out out my knee. I wiped it off, hoping it was no big deal. When I poked my head back outside, I saw someone who was pouring black blood from their mouth and coughing. There went my appetite.
I sat in the corner of the tent, drawing little doodles in the hot, dry sandy floor. Finally I looked up when I heard someone at the entrance of my tent. It was Xavier with some food. Hey, you hungry? he asked.
I shrugged and looked at the food. It looks like slop!
Xavier laughed softly as he came in my tent. We cant be too picky now, can we, Princess?
I growled, snatching some of the slop they called food. Don't EVER call me that! I said, sticking what looked like a green carrot in my mouth. Ugh, it tastes awful! I unwillingly swallowed. They expect us to eat this?
Xavier shrugged his shoulders and ate some. I don't really taste anything. he said blandly. I looked at him. Probably because you were bleeding from the mouth earlier.
He ignored my comment and we continued to eat. We got to know each other more and came to be good friends.
All was well until he came up with a crazy idea.
