The creak of the door made me flinch and flip around to face the door. A large man in the weird white suit walked toward me. He was strong enough that when he grabbed my arm he had to be extra gentle just so my bones didn't snap like toothpicks. As I was lead back into the scorching heat, my eyes scanned over those who were sitting outside their tents.
I'm not really sure if sitting is the right word as some of them were completely deformed. One guy was attempting to sit cries-cross-applesauce with one leg and a nub that ended at his knee. Another had their feet stretched and twisted beyond compare.
The whole thing was a gruesome circus made for the devil. "This is your tent", the man said as we approached a ragged green tent. It was in the same area the one guy was murdered in. It was clear that the sand had been swiped over and specks of red could still be seen as if someone had just run their foot over the pool of blood with little care. "B-but he was shot here..." I trembled. Ignoring my comment, the man continued to talk. "You will sleep here. If you even think about trying to escape, we will hunt you down and kill you. Or we may just bring you back here", his voice was calm as if he had done this a million times before.
It would have been less scary if he had said it in a violent or intimidating way. I wanted to cry. I was trapped. I would die if I tried to escape. I would probably just die standing there. I am currently only saying when there are a million others here as well that have already been through a lot. I watched as he left and glanced over someone who wasn't tested or experimented on peeking out from his tent at me.
"H-hey", I called in almost a whisper. The boy noticeably gulped and mouthed something. "Hi", he tried again, actually getting a word out this time. He was about my age and looked kind, so I assumed that he would make a good friend (kinda like how I assumed the blue book would be interesting to read).
"Do you kn-know what this place is?" I asked timidly. The boy frowned and shrugged. Honestly, I don't really know. I've been brought here after opening a blue book in the library,he answered. My eyes widened. "R-really? Me too!" he smiled slightly. Yeah, all I know is that humans are captured to become lab rats for these crazy "scientists".
My expression saddened. This is wrong. Why would they do this? They brought me here saying I know too much,I replied. He nodded. Same here, he approached me and pulled out his hand. "My names Xavier", he said. "Whats yours?", "Alexia", I answered lowly, taking his hand. "But they're calling me Experiment #13". Xavier shook hands with me. Nice to meet you, Alexia. They call me Experiment #11. Thank god I haven't had the doctor visit me for a check up. he shivered slightly and sat down next to me. We were silent for a while until he started to speak again. "This place is horrid. Its like a nightmar- EXPERIMENT #11! GET BACK TO YOUR TENT!" Xavier jumped up and ran to his tent. Y-yes sir!I watched as he ran and smiled slightly. I wasn't alone on this.
