I knew I was sleeping now. I hoped it was all just a nightmare, but it wasn't. I woke up in a large, cold cage. Bringing my torso up, I had some problems. My leg was hurting immensely and I found out that I had a bullet lodged into my knee cap. It hurt and looked pretty gruesome.
I looked around, yawning as I did so. I was indoors and there was a cage next to me. It was empty. Something told me to continue to look around the room, and I did. In a corner I saw two people. It was the doctor. He was not facing me, but he was facing someone in front of him. The person in front of him was Xavier. A look of worry shattered on my face when I saw the doctor's suitcase of needles. The Test Sweep... I whispered.
Xavier was soon brought into the cage next to me and the doctor had left the room. Xavier! What happened? I asked, looking at an injection the doctor had made. Xavier just gave a weak smile. They got me...he smiled to lighten up the mood. His smile always made things better. I knew that if he had the Test Sweep injection, I would get it too.
I think we are lucky to not have died back there, Xavier looked at me with an odd gleam in his eyes. I stared into his eyes. They were not the same as before. Why do you say that? I asked. It's better than being here. Anything is better than being here! Our plan failed! I frowned, but his smile made me feel safer. That's true. But if we had died I would not have been able to see you or talk to you anymore, Xavier grinned now. He had sharp needles for teeth and I gave a soft shriek. I looked away from his mouth. I was used to seeing things like that. And I would only see more horrible things once I get the Test Sweep injection. I smiled. Even if we had escaped, we still could have seen each other. Maybe even in the afterlife, we would still be together. I wouldn't want to be together here, I replied lowly.
Xavier closed his mouth and looked serious once more. I don't want to be here either, but at least we're together, right? I nodded silently, my face looking grim.Well, since we're here I might as well get something off my chest...he muttered. After all, I don't have much time.My eyes widened. What did he mean by that? Well, what is it? I asked.
Xavier hesitated for a bit. Finally, he decided to spit it out. Alexia, I... I think I might love you.he said in something that was barely a whisper. I froze. What else could I do? I didn't know how to handle this in this kind of situation. But I had some feelings for him as well.
I think I might love you to- Before I could finish, I was cut off by an odd, gurgling sound. Xavier's eyes had a color that I have often seen since I've come to this place. His eyes were blood red. They were filled with a thirst for blood, a thirst for flesh.
I huddled to a corner of my cage as Xavier tried to reach me through the bars. He struggled and made growling noises. That wasn't Xavier anymore. He was gone now. Tears burst through my eyes. Seconds before I screamed, the doctor rushed in with a large needle. He ran up to Xavier and stabbed it into him. Xavier screeched and clawed at the doctor, like a zombie. Soon, he slowly grew limp and collapsed at the bottom of the cold cage.
The doctor looked at Xavier's body, Experiment #11 is gone. Then he looked at me. I'm sorry, Experiment #13. I have to make sure that you are not going to escape again. He pulled out another needle. The Test Sweep injection... The doctor stuck the needle in my arm. I felt something coursing through my body. Something cold.
I was never able to escape. But if I ever do escape I would like to shred that book at the library. Then, I would carry on Xavier's main objective... I would tell everyone of this place and get rid of it!
But now, I sit here, in my tent writing this story. The doctor is coming to visit me soon with more injections, I believe. Now I should probably burn this paper and get rid of any evidence of my story.
Oh, wait. But you are reading this, aren't you?
I'm afraid you know too much now...
Will you join me...?
