Part 12

Thank u for liking the previous chapter. Sorry for the delay and sorry in advance for the delay in future chapters . The thing is my tab which I use to write my stories has malfunctioned am not sure if it is going to be (I really hope it becomes fine soon.) Now am using my phone so I am very uncomfortable to type with something much smaller, that too for such a long time, so it is taking much time. Hope you all understand

Karthik had introduced Naira to everyone. Negi uncle asked about her parents and from where she had come and was she lost. Did she have a place to go and stuff like that. Naira told him that she was from Udaipur and had recently lost her family so had no place to go. Negi uncle asked her to stay at the orphanage from now onwards. He assured her that everyone at the orphanage were really friendly and though it would take a bit of time, she would soon feel at home.

"Hey what is wrong?", asked Karthik coming from the back all of a sudden
"Nothing", she stammered
"You are definitely hiding something. There is something bothering you.", said Karthik firmly
"What rubbish", exclaimed Naira and was about to walk away
"There are lot of questions in your eyes. I don't know what is it that is bothering you but there is something.", he called out
"Stop your tar tar mendak, I really don't know what are you talking about.", Naira replied and left the orphanage for a short afternoon walk.

Karthik followed trying to get her to talk.
"Batao what is the matter", Karthik insisted
"You are irritating me mendak. Stop your nonsense and let me be at peace", Naira yelled
"Is your mind at peace now?", he questioned.
"I don't find it important to answer you. Who are you to ask me such questions. I don't feel answerable to you for anything", she said and walked further.

"She is right, why am I interfering in her life so much. It hasn't been a day since we have met and am asking her so many questions. Why is she effecting me so much. Last night I was so restless but when I came back with her I could sleep peacefully. Why do I want to know what problem she has. Why do I want to solve her problem. Why do I feel a pull towards her.", Karthik spoke to himself.
"You know what Karthik just ignore everything and focus on your own life.",  Karthik decided.

"How does he see through me?", Naira questioned herself.
"Naira just ignore him", she decided

Almost a year had passed since Naira had come to the orphanage. Naira was enrolled into the same school where all the orphanage kids went. Karthik and Naira never talked much and whenever they did, they only use to argue.

"Negi uncle am going to the ghat for the aarti", Naira informed
"Okay Tina beta. Take care. See if you notice Karthik, he left for the ghat some time back. You both return back together.", said Negi uncle
"Negi uncle you know we hate each other", replied Naira
"He is a nice boy and you are a sweet girl Tina. You both should not fight and try to be friends", suggested Negi uncle. Naira left silently.

The aarti had just gotten over. Naira had not seen Karthik yet. Honestly she hadn't put a lot of efforts in finding him. The crowd had reduced. Naira too turned to leave, it    was then she realised that she was surrounded. They were the same men who had wanted to kidnap her on her first day in Rishikesh and some new faces too. A lump grew in her throat as she looked at. They were around 8 people standing all around her, she had no place to run, but she wasn't the one to bend. She kicked one of the men in an attempt to get him out of the way, bad move because as she pushed the front man, the one standing at her back, pulled her from her hair.
"Karthik", she screamed, surprising herself, not knowing why she called out that name, his name.

Karthik was at the other end his back turned towards Naira and the goons, so he hadn't seen them earlier as soon as he heard his name, he looked around to see from where it came but so no one.
"Why did it sound like someone called my name", Karthik wondered
"It sounded like Tina. Maybe am imagining, she is nowhere here and even if she was why would she call out your name. Aur agar usse tujhe bulana hi hai mendak keh kar bulaye gi. Aaj tak uss ne tujhe tere naam se buliya kya. You are over thinking nothing else,  she is not here", he tried explaining himself but his heart was not ready to listen, so he decided to hurry to the ashram to see if she was there

The goons had already taken Naira away after tying her mouth and hands.

Karthik rushed to the orphanage.
"Negi uncle, is that Sherni here", asked Karthik as soon as he entered.
"No, but didn't you meet her at the ghat. She had gone for the aarti. I told her you were there and asked her to come back with you.", Negi uncle replied
"Woh ussi ki awaz thi", Karthik mummered to himself in realisation and immediately set for the ghat. He looked all around but the place was empty.
"Where could she go. She called my name, but when I turned to see no one was there. If she called for me why did she leave before we could meet and if she had to leave, why would she call my name. It doesn't make sense that she would leave on her own (pause) unless she was forced too." Karthik thought.

"But what or who could force her to leave", he questioned himself.
"Let me search throughly all around here", he told himself. With that he searched every corner of the ghat and the area around it. He questioned the passerbys.
"Karthik beta tum ab tak yehi ho. Mujhe lagga tum kab ke chale gaye", asked a priest that was walking by.
"I was searching for Tina have you seen her. She was there during aarti", asked Karthik
"No, beta I haven't",  the man answered, Karthik turned to walk away.
"Wait a minute", the priest called out.
"I think I saw some men surrounding a girl. I was about to approach them but they had gone before I could reach. Am not very sure but the girl looked a bit like Tina. Honestly the men didn't look like good people to me", the man informed.

The colour drained of Karthik's face as he realised Naira was probably kidnapped by those men.
"Pandit Ji do you remember anyone's face from the group of men clearly.", asked Karthik
"All of them were pretty tall and were rather rough looking, but one of them looked much younger. His hair was a reddish kind of colour.", the priest told him. Karthik asked the priest to come to the police station with him. They went there and told the police everything, but they refused to help since they didn't have any solid proof that the kidnapping had taken place.

Karthik walked out of the place dejected.

Just then he saw Suvarna name flashing on his phone
"Ji maa kya hua", asked Karthik
"Yeh sawal toh mujhe puchna chaiye. Aaj call nahi kiya", she said
"Don't hide anything from me. I can sense from your voice that something is wrong. Tell me.", Suvarna asked    

Karthik tells her everything.
"Don't worry I will talk to Manish. He will approach the higher officials and soon the local police will get them to search for that girl. She will be safe soon.", Suvarna assured

Just like Suvarna promised Manish called the commissioner and he ordered the Rishikesh police to give special attention to the case at once.

"Upar se order aiya hai, case lena hi padega", said one officer
"Tu le case, arrest kar le lal baal wale ladke ko." Replied the second man sarcastically
"Nahi kiya toh naukri khatre mein  pad jayegi", the first officer answered back.
"If we do arrest him than we will loose our lives. I love my life more than my job", said the third officer
"We all know it is whose work and also how many children have been taken by that group and how dangerous they are. We even know that there hide out is an empty gowdown near XYZ hotel but still no one has taken action because we know how risky it is ", said the first.

The whole conversation was heard by Karthik.
"I have to save her", thought Karthik and left for the goons hide out.
