"James, please leave us." It wasn't a tone to be questioned about, for James, the beta, nodded his head and went out the door closing it behind him.

The room fell silent after that, and for a short moment, he took a long breath then sighed.

"I must say, you had guts coming to my territory, unarmed and a woman." He had that mischievous glint in his eyes, and for once in my life I was relieved that he wasn't angry, well not yet.

"I wouldn't be so surprised." I replied coolly. I took him all in, he was wearing a suit and the tie was loosened, making him a sexy god. His biceps were choking against his white dress shirt, added some black slacks and a pair of leather shoes. And did I say his hair was ruffled?

He was like the Christian Grey and I was his Ana Steele.

Considering the chains and all...

He coughed breaking me from my reverie. I looked up, and then blinked.

The way he looked at me was as if I was the most precious thing he had laid eyes upon.

I dangled the chains, making it clank noisily.

"Do you mind?" I asked pointing at the chains, he chuckled.

"What makes you think that I'll unchain you?"

This earned a growl and his face visibly changed.

"I'm not here to make a warm welcome, princess. In fact, I want answers, and answers I will get." He towed his way over to me, his tall frame looming my short ones.

I opened my façade, expressionless while staring at his jade eyes.

"Why had you trespassed?"

Stare.

"Were you planning an attack?"

Stare.

"Answer me!" He pounded his fist on the wall inches away from me. It cracked from the impact. I didn't flinch, but I almost did. I glared in return.

"Didn't the Beta told you anything?" I fired back.

"That you didn't know you were trespassing? Why would I believe that?" He laughed, like I ridiculed him.

"It's not my case if you believe or not, but that's the only answer you'll get from me." I said with such ferocity that I didn't notice his frame was getting closer to me. Much closer that I could feel his body heat.

"I'd slice your neck right now if it weren't for you having this effect on me." His breath fanned my face, and I stopped myself from shivering.

"Then let me go." I said keeping my voice steady.

"I'm sorry, sweetheart but I'm afraid I cannot." He took a step back, only for his eyes to gaze on my own.

"So what you're keeping me prisoner, then?" I fought back a growl, clearly enraged.

"There's a reason why you had wandered off to the wrong territory, and I want to know why." I laughed, a bittersweet laugh escaped my lips.

He once narrowed his eyes, "Oh, I'm a storyteller now?"

He growled, becoming enraged, "I could just slit your throat right then and-"

"Why don't you do it then?" I cut him off.

He took off his tie throwing it to the ground, his face a stressful mess. He made his way towards the bathroom, his dress shirt and pants discarded.

As soon as the water hit his skin, his muscles relaxed. It was the only way for his tense self to be relieved.

The meeting with the Alphas had him twisted in a knot. His head had been pounding that day, added to the fact that the rogue attacks had been the top priority. During the past century, rogues had been a fleeting problem to the Were society, but now as time passed, more rebellious wolves have come to take over the world.

Especially to the Royals. He was the target for he was the last of his kind.

But little did he know...

He fixed himself in a sweatpants, and then went to his bed.

The night could've gotten better if it weren't for the pounding on his head. He closed his eyes, then opened it, once or twice, he couldn't sleep.

The headache didn't help, for it only made him more anxious.

An urgent knock on the door broke him from his solitude, "Come in."

"Your majesty, I-I apologize for the interruption b-but there's been a dozen of rogues spotted north to our kindom." The stuttering knight was anxious to be out there, for he knew an angry king was not one you want to witness.

Surprisingly for him, the King was calm and collected, who gave a short flick of the hand before saying, "Go, I'll follow suit."

He stood up and went to the balcony, from there he shifted, his golden fur shining in the moonlight, then he jumped thirty feet off the castle walls.

He wasn't one to just sit idly with a crown on his head, he was one to extinguish the savages that has caused complication to his kingdom.

-

The moment I spoke those words, I knew I was a dead wolf.

But instead of death that has awaited me, I was greeted by warm lips hovering over mine. It took me a moment to describe the situation I was in and in that fact, I kissed back.

The hell was I doing kissing some Alpha wolf.

He pulled back and I stared at him shocked and breathless. His eyes held the dangerous glint, the one I wouldn't want to relish.

Those orbs held something that I do not want nor hope to have, for it will complicate the life I'd been living.

"What was that?" I whispered my voice caught in the wind. His gaze stared me down, from my eyes down to my lips then back to my eyes.

"I couldn't help but get myself drawn to you..." He gazed at my lips his rough fingers tracing my jaw, I could feel his body mere inches from mine, "... that I could feel-"

I want him to stop. I didn't want him to continue saying those words.

"-the connection."

And everything just shattered.
