Prologue:
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!" I screamed as my best friend lifted me in the air and onto his shoulder. "Colt put me down! I have to go!" I giggled.
"You cheated Faye! There is no way you are this good at Uno!" Colt replied.
"I did not! You just suck at it!" I said as he spun around.
"Not true!"
"Too true" replied his mom.
"Fine you win." Colt said as he set me down "But I'll bring my A game next time"
"That wont help much," I giggled as I grabbed my bags.
"Hey take this" Colt said as he handed me flashlight, "It's dark out."
"Thanks" I smiled and gave him a quick hug good-bye.
"I'll see you tomorrow." He laughed.
"Ugh Finals."
Colt laughed as I shut the door.
I turned on the flash light and began to walk home, which was down the street. I took a deep breath. The smell of freshly mowed grass and cold, bitter air filled my nostrils. It felt as if I was already home. I'd always felt safe in my neighborhood. I lived in a small town where everyone was friends. The whole town knew who was doing what, or who....
I walked down the street, the familiar asphalt beneath my feet. I got close to home quickly. I was five lots away when I felt a hand go around my face. I felt a broad body lean against mine. I tensed and then I heard:
