Clary didn't know what to say. She just stared at the ring, her mouth open in awe. She had tears building in her eyes. She realized Jace was waiting for her to answer. She just smiled and nodded her head, unable to speak. Jace smiled as big as she had ever seen. He stood up and slid the ring onto her finger with a big smile playing across his mouth. "Clarissa Fairchild, you have just made me the happiest man on earth."

She smiled, "I believe you mean, Clarissa Lightwood."

He smiled back, "Yes, I did, Clarissa Lightwood."

He leaned down to kiss her, wrapping his arms around her waist. "I can't wait to see you in that gold gown. You are going to look gorgeous."

Clary smiled, "I can't wait to see you in that suit. You are going to look amazing."

"I will be so proud to call you my wife, Mrs. Lightwood. So, when should we do the wedding?"

"My question is: when are we going to tell mom and Luke?"

Jace looked down, "Yeah, there is that little problem."

"Jace, she will never agree to this. I'm lucky she is even letting me have you as my boyfriend. She will freak when she hears we are engaged."

Jace looked down frowning, "I wish there was a better way to tell you this, but-"

"Tell me what?"

"Luke already knows that I was planning on purposing today. He just hasn't gotten the chance to tell Jocelyn."

Clary's face lit up and then she began to frown, "Jocelyn will be so upset that Luke is keeping this from her until he figures out how to tell her. She will probably find out her own when she sees the ring on my finger."

Jace looked at her left hand. "Here," he reached down and turned the ring so the diamond wasn't visible. "There, now she won't notice." He looked back up at her face and smiled.

Clary smiled and kissed him again.

"I can't wait for the day." She whispered against his lips.

"I know what you mean. I want to marry you tomorrow."

"Well, you are just going to have to be patient. Have you told Isabelle and Alec?"

Jace pulled away to look at her, "No. I think we should let them find out on their own, don't you?" He had a small smirk on his face.

"Yeah, we should keep quiet and see if they notice. Isabelle will freak."

"And Alec probably won't show much change. If we're lucky, he will probably smile."

She looked at him smiling, she just couldn't stop smiling knowing that soon she, too, will be a Lightwood, "I just can't wait for the day that we say those words."

"And our souls will be forever bound by the runes."

"And I can start calling you my husband."

"And I can start calling you Mrs. Lightwood."

"And people won't freak out when they hear that we are married because they will know."

"Yeah, especially that, even though we are still teenagers."

"So, do you want to go find Alec and see if he notices?"

"Yeah, I would like to see his reaction."

"How do you think I should tell Simon? Isabelle is with him right now."

"Send him a picture of your hand, put like a new rune on it or something, and ask if notices anything different."

"That's a good idea. What rune though?"
