Chapter 2

I was walking down the hallway on my phone when I rammed into something tall and hard. I stumbled, almost dropping my Blackberry in the process. When I finally got my bearing and looked up, I was surprised to see Zachary Freeman standing in front of me and not an oak tree. Seriously, the guy works out WAY too much. But I guess being on the football team helps keep you fit.

"Woah there," he said, his boyish grin showing off a dimple and perfectly straight, white teeth.

I felt something on my arm and pried my eyes away from his face to look down to where his hand wrapped around my elbow. He must have noticed my staring and quickly let go. I just stood there, not being able to form words, with my mouth hanging open. I mentally kicked myself for acting like a complete moron.

Zach either didn't feel the awkwardness radiating off of us like sun rays in the middle of July or he ignored it. Either way I was extremely grateful when he merely said, "So, um, Ricki, isn't it? I guess I'll be seeing you around." He gave me another lopsided smile before disappearing into the stream of teenagers passing by. Emma bumped past me with an idiotic grin plastered on her face. I sighed before following after her, she had obviously seen everything that transpired in the last thirty seconds and wasn't likely to let it go.

I looked behind me, and caught Zachary's eye. I only held his gaze for a fleeting moment, but as his green eyes bore into mine, time seemed to stretch. Seconds became hours, hours turned to days, and it felt as if we stood there for an eternity. We could have, I thought, if Emma hadn't have pinched my arm.

"Ow," I rubbed my throbbing skin.

"Your welcome. Now come on, someone heard from someone who heard from someone that Mr. Carter is giving a pop quiz today." Emm grinned goofily as she glanced in the direction Zachary had been in moments ago. "Unless your not done daydreaming about Mr. Hunky Football Man."

Yeah, I was definitely going to hear about this later.

This chapter is a LOT shorter than originally planned, but I didn't feel like typing it all out again a third time. That's right, this chapter was mysteriously deleted twice. It is extremely aggravating. Sorry, I'll try to make up for it by updating soon.
