When Hell Melts Ice

Helga's Point of View

We woke up early in the morning to start building our temporary house.

Vale and Chris were done measuring the important details. We have enough tools for carpentry. A Hammer, Tape Measure, Chalk Line, Carpenter's Pencil, Utility Knife, Tin Snips, Nail Puller, Speed Square, Framing Square, Level and etc. Lucky because I memorize all it's names.

Hanzo and Harith are polishing the woods so that we wont be pricked.

I am busy arranging the tools we need. I guess today is really a busy day!

Nahagilap ng mga mata ko si Vale na pawis na pawis habang nagsisimula na silang dalawa ni Harith na gumawa ng hagdanan.

Remember that we were all building a tree house. Inalalayan sila ng dalawa kong kapatid na sina Shai at Henna. Pumunta ako sa kanila para maki-alalay rin.

I don't want myself busy for arranging some tools, it's a light work habang sila busy'ng-busy! I was happy because we made the third stare! Pinanday muli nila ang likod at maayos na ito.

"Helg, why don't you try to step it?"- ani sa akin ni Vale at ngumiti pa. Why me? Meron naman akong dalawa pang kapatid na babae ah?

"What?"- They say that when the girl says what it didn't mean that she did not heard what you say, she's telling you to change your mind! That's what I am feeling right now.

"Try it Helg. Baka kung sakaling palpak maaagapan na natin. "- pangumbinsi sa akin ni Shai. I heave a sigh because there's no point about arguing with this.  I stepped the first wood and stood in there and it didn't break.

"Yes!"- masayang sabi nila sa isa't-isa at naghigh five sina Vale at Haritb. Somehow I feel great about it. Nagpatuloy sila sa pagpanday at patuloy kami sa pag-alalay sa kahoy.

"Ouch!"- nanlaki ang mata ko nang marinig ko si Vale na dumaing. Agad nabitawan ang martilyo at paulit-ulit na hinihipan ang kanyang hinlalaki. I stop and grab his hand.

Lahat ng mga kasamahan ko ay napatingin sa aking ginagawa and I don't care.

Nakita kong namumula na ang kanyang hinalalaki at nagsisimulang mamaga na ito.

"I'll med this first. Kayo na muna diyan."- ani ko kina Harirh, Henna at Shai na binibigyan ako ng kakaibang ngiti kaya napakunot noo ako pero I dont mind.

Hinila ko na si Vale at sumama naman siya sa akin. Pumasok ako sa tent namin ni Moniesze dahil doon nakalagay ang first aid kit.

Pinapasok ko si Vale pero mukhang nagdadalawang isip pa siya bago tuluyang pumasok. Does this thing bothered him?

"Are you bothered?"- I asked him without looking at nakatuon ang pansin ko sa compress na ginagawa ko.

"Not really."- nang tiningnan ko siya he looked away. Gayshit?  I laughed at my thought.
"Ah. K."- sabi ko at hinablot ang kanyang kamay, he groaned and I chuckled. Agd kong dinampi ang white sa kanyang hinlalaki. He looked at me intently and shocked.

"Why are looking at me like that?"- I said and raised my brow. I must be bitchy as soon as possible!

"Nothing. You're hot as hell." - I felt the fire rose up in my face. I'm red as tomato! Oh—you don't have to say that. I'm born beautiful and no mouths can stop me.

"Uhm...Can you hold this first. I'm gonna get the medical tape."- ani ko at tumango naman siya. Bago ko binitawan ang kamay ko ay hinawakan niya na ang kamay ko.

I look at him and he looked back. Suddenly I feel that the world stops turning itself as we look at each other's eyes.

His natural grey eyes are hypnotizing me making me stare more. As I realize that it is a bit awkward ay bumitiw na ako sa pakikipagtitigan at kinuha ang medical tape at scissors doon sa first aid kit.

Agad akong bumalik sa pwesto ko kanina at kinuha ko na ang kanyang kamay. I took care of it. Somehow I remember my dream.

"Mommy! When you're sick I'm gonna take care of you and med you."- maligaya kong sabi kay Mommy. I hugged her very tight.

"Your dream is to be a doctor? Hmm?"- she asked me and stand up to get my stethoscope toy and my nurse teddy bear. Umakto siyang nahihilo at agad ko namang dinayuhan.

"Nurse H! Get the stretcher now."- I command my toy nurse teddy bear and imagined that she was bringing a stretcher. Agad kong inilagay si Mommy sa bed nila ni Daddy kahit na mabigat siya hihi and I do my job as a doctor.

"Helga?"- agad kong iniling ang aking ulo at binalingan siya.

"Are you okay?"- nag-aalalang tanong niya. My ghad! His voice was husky. The heck?! Again we stared for a long moment.

His grey eyes again hypnotized me and the world stopped. He comes his face near mine. I closed my eyes when his lips brushed mine.

"Hoy Helga at Vale! Antagal niyo naman diyan sa loob! May ginagawa kayong kababalaghan ano?"- when  I heard my sister Henna shouting outside agad akong lumayo sa kanya. He was shocked at my reaction. He grinned like an evil warrior.

"You melt me, Hell-ga."- sabi ni Vale sa akin.
