The two silently walked into their shared apartment, leaving their shoes behind by the entrance. Taehyung released a small yawn as he threw himself on the couch. The good thing about having a childhood friend is being able to move out and pay half the rent when you do. The two had been friends since their elementary school days, when they met by chance during one of the hottest summers in Seoul. However, Jungkook being from Busan and Taehyung being from Daegu, it was hard to see each other whenever they pleased, so their mothers arranged for them to spend all their vacations with one another and have ways of communicating when they didn't have a vacation. The two couldn't be happier, and when the time came, they both moved from their hometowns to the city where they met to live together.

"What do you want for dinner Hyung?" he asked as he turned to look at Tae who was lying, face down on the couch. He saw the small shrug of his shoulders and sighed.

"Looks like it is gonna be a Ramyeon kind of night then," he had said to himself. He moved to the cabinets and got everything he needed. He put the small pot of boiling water on the stove and headed to his room to grab his laptop. He came back and sat on a stool beside the kitchen counter and opened up his laptop, opening up a new tab, he typed in Naver in the portal bar. He quickly typed in 'Mermaids' into the search bar and did some research. He wanted to find out what exactly it was that he saw, what could have possibly shined so brightly on such a dull day. However, before he could continue, Taehyung stood up from the couch and Jungkook immediately shut his laptop and stood up to put the noodles in the pot of water.

"Ramyeon almost ready?" he asked as he saw Jungkook put the last pack of noodles in the water.

"Yea," he quietly responded. He looked down at his reflection in the pot of water and sighed. He felt a pair of arms wrap around his waist and lie their head on his shoulder, he lightly smiled. They had always been close like that, always had a flirty friendship, maybe a couple of things had happened between them. Their friend Jin who runs a cafe near their university, always says, 'Yah stop flirting already and just get in a relationship you two!' and the two would always shoot back with 'You mean the same way you and Namjoon Hyung flirt?' and he would throw the first thing he had in reach at them. The two would laugh and throw one last comeback of 'You could at least try to set an example like Hoseokkie Hyung and Yoongi Hyung' and with that Jin would threaten to spit in their drinks and they would quickly shut up.

"What's wrong?" Taehyung whispered. Jungkook shook his head lightly.

"Nothing Hyung," he responded in a whisper. He felt the latter's lips press against his head and he lightly sighed for what felt like the hundredth time that day. Taehyung had let go of him and helped him to finish their dinner.

"Whatever it is, just try not to worry too much," he told the younger in reassurance.

The two cleaned up their dishes and Taehyung was the first to head to their room and fall asleep. Meanwhile, Jungkook stayed up to continue his research. He went through dozens of articles, pictures, and videos that at some point in the night he realized he lost track of time at looked at the clock. It read a clear 3:33 a.m.

"One last video," he told himself and clicked on the video that followed the one he was watching. A fisherman had claimed to caught a mermaid on camera once again, but all the ones before that same one were clear fakes. As he watched it he noticed that what the fisherman thought was a mermaid was just a giant fish and he groaned at yet another lousy video, however, he kept on watching just like he did with the other videos. That was when he noticed something the fisherman probably didn't realize, and it was a shine unlike any other in the far distance at the right-hand corner of the video. Jungkook looked long and hard at it but could not make out what he was looking at, it did not help either that the boat that the fisherman was on was moving to the left rather than the right as he recorded. 'Move right! Move right!' he would repeat in his head. And as if God himself heard his prayers, the boat was shoved to the right by the strong waves and that was when he saw it. A blue tail with gold ends all attached to an abdomen, but it was gone in an instant, like it was never there.

"He was right"

Taehyung, who Jungkook thought was fast asleep, was actually in bed on his laptop doing research of his own as well.

"I want to catch one" he quietly said to himself as he searched different methods of catching a mermaid. He didn't want to harm it when he did of course, he was searching the safest ways of doing it. For as long as Taehyung could remember, he was always the type to believe in your childhood myths. Myths like bigfoot, fairies, trolls, and of course, mermaids. However, mermaids were the ones that fascinated him the most, considering that they are half human as well he might be able to communicate with them. He shot a text to the two Hyungs he knows are willing to come join him in catching one.

Mermaid Hunters

Seokjinie Hyung: What's up with the group name?

I want you guys to join me in a quest

Hoseokkie Hyung: To do what exactly?

Hyung read the group name

Hoseokkie Hyung: :o

Jin Hyung: Are you serious about this?!

Yes -_-

Hoseokkie Hyung: I'm in! Sounds fun!

Jin Hyung: Fine I'll go, but only because you two are not to be trusted alone.

Yay!!! How about Friday?

Jin Hyung: Ok, goodnight

Hoseokkie Hyung: Alright, goodnight

Goodnight

He smiled lightly and turned off his phone and shut his laptop. He got up from the bed to grab Jungkook. He saw him sat at the counter laptop open as he stared at the screen.

"Kookie are you coming to bed," he said as he rubbed his eyes. Jungkook snapped out of his trance and stared at the sleepy-eyed Taehyung.

"Neh Hyung," he said as he shut his laptop and took it with him under his arms, using his empty hand to hold Taehyung's. He set his laptop on the desk in their room, letting Taehyung get in bed, and went off to the bathroom to get ready for bed. When he came back Taehyung was already sound asleep in their shared bed. Jungkook smiled at his Hyung fondly and joined him, bringing him closely into his arms. Taehyung stirred in his sleep before settling comfortably in his arms.

"Goodnight Hyung" he said softly as he kissed the top of Taehyung's head.
