My mom had been really overprotective the last week before I went to college. It was understandable, but kind of annoying, especially when I was skyping with Harry or calling Louis.
Since Louis called her, telling her what happened between me and Niall, she had been crazy hover-y and she refused to let me even think about "that ass of a young man." My mom even took down all of my poster in my room that had Niall on them. Yikes.
I had been spending a lot of time at the hospital (no not for that reason) as well as with Mom. I volunteered at the hospital with Ariel, my personal nurse from before. She'd been really understanding and helpful, even sharing advice from her past boyfriends. It turns out that she was going to be attending her sophmore year at the same college I was attending which was ridiculously cool.
The last week went by in a flash, between skyping, calls, hanging with Mom and Ariel and working at the hospital. Before I knew it, I was in the backseat of my mom's Suburban with Mom and Ariel on the road to Manhattan. I wad going to college.
Mom continued to rant and rave about how she was going to miss her "lady bugs" seeing that her only daughter and her newly found daughter were leaving her.
Me and Ariel would just laugh and continue listening to the radio. Throughout the ride we would play Guess the Song. Ariel would always win, but I think she was cheating anyway.
"Well, lady bugs, this is your stop." Mom parked on the Julliard campus next to the Harmony dorm house.
I truthfully got a little queasy just thinking about how my future started now.
"Thanks for the ride, Momma Rameriez!" She opened the passenger door and got some of her things out of the back. She popped her head back in with a crazed smile. "Don't worry, babe, you are gonna love it here. I promise."
"Mom?" I sat in the backseat while my mom was about to get out of the driver seat.
"Yes, Isabella." She only used my full name when shit was going down. Uh oh.
"I'm nervous." I usually only get nervous when I'm about to go on stage or talk in public.
"Belly, you are the bravest girl I know. I've seen you at your worst, and this isn't it. You are brilliant, beautiful, funny, a little bit sarcastic and the best daughter I could have dreamed of. You are going to kick butt in this school. Now go get your dreams!"
Mom was never one for inspirational speeches, and this one made me tear up a bit.
"I love you, Mom." I said while giving her a hug.
"I love you too." She said into my shoulder.
We stayed like this for a few minutes and then Mom helped me unload the truck with mine and Ariel's belongings.
-*-
"Alright, chickies." My mom patted her hands together after helping me set up
her room. Ariel sat on my newly made bed. She lived down the hall, seeing as I was a froshie frosh and she was a sophmore.
"Thank you, Mom, for everything. I will call you tonight, ok?" I hugged my mom for what seemed like the 7th time today.
"Will do, honey." She grabbed her purse and left.
"Well," Ariel stood up and grabbed my hand. Her hazel eyes catching mine. "All that unpacking made me a little hungry. You wanna take a quick tour and get something to eat? I'm feeling pizza."
Ariel continued to ramble while pulling me along behind her, giving me barely enough time to grab my room key and wallet. I didn't have a roomate yet, but I wanted to bring my key just incase she didn't come until tomorrow.
