"Ollie, no offence but this list is rather random and weird" Ashleigh, Olivia's other best friend said.
Olivia rolled her eyes.
Jared smirked.
Olivia glared at him.
"What!? Don't look at me like that she said it this time!" He replied, raising his arms up.
"You guys do know, that the point of a bucket list, is to do things you want to do before you die. There isn't a general standardised way to do it. No one in the world would have the same list as anyone else. That's the point of the whole "humans are unique" thing." Olivia said, crossing her arms across her torso and frowning.
"Weird or not, I promised I would help out, so don't you worry!" Ash said and Olivia gave her a warm smile.
All three of them were sat in Olivia's room, they wanted to binge watch "Thirteen Reasons Why" on Netflix, eat pizza and discuss how to go about her list.
"Okay so, I say we finish all the extreme ones earliest, lest I fall more ill and cannot get out of bed or something" Olivia said and had a pillow flung at her face.
"What did I tell about positive thoughts!?" Jared gritted. His tone was meant to be playful but it was obvious that he was serious.
"But my blood group is B Negative, and the same blood happens to have cancer so voila!" She said. Ashleigh, though worried, laughed at her friends stupid joke, which made Jared laugh as well.
"Say, why do you have number twenty blank?" Ash asked.
"Saved best for the last. Now making sure it is the best one yet!" Olivia said.
"Well, going by your theory of time, scuba diving, the concert, the "one of the seven wonders" visit and the road trip needs to be done earliest, but also the YouTube channel and learning a new language will take time to do so that needs to be done earlier too!"
Ash said, while she was still going through the list.
"It's a good thing we have holidays coming up then eh?" Jared said.
"I hope mom allows me. She hasn't forgiven me yet for denying treatment." Olivia said, in a grave tone.
"I don't think she would restrict you knowing you've got limited time now ollie, and you are her only child so ofcourse she will react this way. Give her time." Ash said.
Jared simply nodded and pressed the play button on Olivia's laptop. The three continued watching till they finally dozed off.
While Ashleigh and Olivia snored softly, Jared stirred in his sleep. He didn't feel good at all. It felt mentally exhausting to discuss Olivia's death, and her last few wishes, in such a casual manner.
'How can Ashleigh be so calm and collected and casual about this!? Isn't it affecting her that her best friend will die soon? ' He wondered.
He had started to wonder if Ashleigh even cared about Olivia anymore.
He wondered if he cared a little too much.
And so the night passed, the owls hooted, the frogs croaked, and Jared stirred, in a half asleep state, wondering the possibilities of his best friends short-lived future.
