An Adventure time fanfiction

The Start of the End.

"Jake! There's goo bros everywhere! How did they get out of the pit?" Finn screamed and ran towards the candy kingdom, the toxic creatures following close behind and infecting the candy people at a fast rate.

"I dunno man! Do you think it has to do with James messing things up?" Jake stretched his legs towards the human boy and carried them both up towards Princess Bubblegum's room.

"No Jake, PB was the one messing things up, remember?" Finn panted, out of breath from the long run from their treehouse. The strange creatures had infested their home along with most of Ooo.

"Oh yeah. Ow! I must have stepped on some glass or something. I hope Bubblegum's not dead already."

"Dude don't say that! Your messing with my brain."

"I'm just saying, if PB's bod is all jacked up don't freak out. There's no way to save her."

"Shut up Jake."

"Okay, sorry."

Princess Bubblegum's room was empty. They searched everywhere until they came to a closed door, it was a bathroom.

"Maybe she's in there, I'll open it." Jake reached for the doorknob, but Finn pushed him back.

"Wait, what if she's doing... you know... girl stuff in there. We gotta knock." Finn blushed.

"We don't have time for that!" Jake exclaimed, looking out the window at the approaching creatures. They were close now, almost halfway up the wall. "I'm gonna do it."

"Jake no!" But Jake was already turning the doorknob. He pushed it open only to have it be slammed closed again.

"What the...?" Jake tried again, but it was closed in his face again.

"Stay out you freaks of nature! I will not be turned into a zombie, or whatever you are, today! Or any day!" There was a girlish scream from behind the door.

"PB? Is that you?" Finn shouted at the candy door.

"Finn?" The door was opened a crack and Princess Bubblegum looked through. When she recognized her friends, she swung open the door and threw herself at Finn, only to step back immediately in embarrassment. "Sorry. I just thought you guys were... you know... not alive anymore."

"We almost were. These things have taken over all of Ooo. Except the Ice Kingdom... I wonder how Ice King's doing." Jake said.

"Oh my glob Jake what's wrong with your leg?" Finn screamed. Jakes leg had turned a nasty green and looked disfigured.

"I must have stepped on some of that toxic goo. I'm gonna turn into one of those creature things! Finn, you've gotta kill me. I don't wanna hurt anyone, especially you."

"I can't Jake, I can't kill you! You can fix him, right PB?" Finn asked desperately.

"I'm sorry Finn. Those things got into my supplies and some of the ingredients for the antidote are halfway across Ooo." Bubblegum looked sadly at Jake.

" It's the only way Finn. I have to sacrifice myself." The green had spread over half of Jake's body now.

"I won't let you!" Finn cried stubbornly.

"Stop being selfish Finn! You have to let him go until I can get the antidote." PB said. "If there is one." She added on quietly.

"But... I can't let you go. You're my best friend." Finn whispered, his voice cracking.

"Then I'll just have to jump off into those zombies myself. You can't save me Finn, this is it for me." Jake turned to the approaching creatures, but Finn grabbed his arm.
