(A/n) my head canon for Yurio is that he's a rape baby. It would explain why he's so angry, his difficulty in making friends, being raised by his grandfather, the absents of a father, his mother's early retirement, and him working so hard to prove his worth.
(Yurio pov)
I walked towards the rink. It has been a long year since I won gold at the Grand Prix. Otabek turned me down. I still remember it, the pain of rejection.
"What? You're only 15. You think I could like you as anything more than a friend?"
It had been a long time since I cried like that. Then grandpa...why did you have to get sick?! I think Yakov is starting to notice. All these emotions are putting off my skating. How can I skate agape when all I feel is lose!
(3rd person)
Yurio walked down the streets towards the rink. He wanted to get some extra practice in today. His mind continued to buzz with emotion.
(Y/n) was a girl, age 16. She had no family left. Her father left when she was young and her mother and brother died in a house fire when she was 13. She didn't want to go to the orphanage so one of her mother's friend's widower took her in. He was a cold man but she didn't mind. They both lost people and never talked about it. He owned a skating rink and she worked there for him. She would do anything he needed her to, from cleaning to running the food stand to driving the zamboni. His house was too small for her to stay in so he fixed up one of the conference rooms on the second floor for her. She basically lived at the rink.
Yurio walked into the rink with his head hanging low and his earbuds in. No one else was at the rink. It was late so most people were home by now and none of the other Russian skaters used this rink. Yurio wanted somewhere secluded so he opted out of going to Yakov's rink. Yurio changed into his practice uniform and went out on the ice. On Love: Agape played in his ears. He tried to skate to it, tried to feel it but he couldn't. Every jump, even if he didn't fall, shook him to his core. As he finished in the center of the rink he fell to his knees and pounded the ice with his fists. Little did he know someone in the distance peered at him.
(Y/n) watched as the blond haired boy who came in late every day broke. She had seen him many times, doing the same routine over and over. She recognized him as the Grand Prix gold medalist. She couldn't figure out why he was doing so terrible.
He stayed longer than usual today and she had to drive the zamboni soon. She skated out to him. She placed a hand on his back and he jumped.
"S-sorry. I have to... The ice..zamboni," she stumbled.
"Yeah.. Alright."
He skated to the exit. He didn't look at her but she could practically hear the tears in his voice. She thought about asking him about it.
"Hey!" she called. "I'll wait a bit...if you wanna go through your routine one more time!"
Yurio's POV
I turned to her quickly. She's smiling at me and I can tell it's forced. I don't want her pity but I do need the practice. I nod and skate back to the center. She watches me, I can feel her eyes on me through my whole routine. I fell as I tried to do one of my quads and fuck did it hurt. I tried to push myself up but I couldn't find the strength in myself to do it. Within seconds I felt arms pulling me up around my waist.
"Are you okay?" she questioned.
"I'm fine!" I snapped, pushing away from her.
I heard her click her tongue before I felt a twinge of pain in my arm. She punched me!
"I don't care who you are! I was just trying to help you, jackass!"
She skated away and I felt bad. I got off the ice quickly because I felt as though she was going to run me over with the zamboni if I stayed on the ice. I went to the locker room and did some cool down stretches before going to take a shower. My mind kept going back to her. I've seen her here so many times. She seems to do everything around here. I frown at myself and I about punch the mirror but I don't want to break it.
"Yo!" I yell out to her.
She was sweeping when I went back out to the outside of the ice.
"What?!" she growled.
(Y/n) POV
I really did not want to talk to him. He pissed me off. I was hoping he just forgot his jacket or something but my luck sucks. He came straight up to me. I rolled my eyes and put my weight on my push broom.
"Hey, I'm sorry for snapping at you," he said.
He sounded sincere but I don't believe him for a moment. I've heard enough apologizes for a lifetime.
"Yeah whatever. Get out of my rink. I gotta close up."
"I really am sorry."
I roll my eyes and walk past him. I continue to sweep up the floor around the food stand. He watches for a moment then turns to leave. He stops at the door and yells back.
"Let me make it up to you?"
"We'll see."
He leaves after that and I sigh.
Yurio's POV
I guess I really pissed her off. She was so nice to. Man, I'm an idiot. I kick a stone as I start to walk down the street. I pick it up and throw it, screaming at myself. I hear a laugh behind me and turn around to see her standing there.
"(Y/n). That's what you can call me. Now, how you gonna make it up to me?" she smirks and I about faint.
