Chapter 5: Summer Ends

"Wake up, Misa."

"Later, mom."

"You've been locking yourself in your room for 3 days now."

"I just don't feel like getting up at all."

"Isn't Marina coming over for tomorrow's summer festival?"

"She said she'll be here at noon after her classes finish."I paused for a while then continued talking." After tomorrow mom, we're returning to Tokyo."

"I see." She just smiled warmly at me
"Well, if you ever figure out how to walk from your bed to the dining table, help yourself with the food I'll leave. I'm going out to buy groceries. You sure you'll be okay?"

"I'll be okay, mom." She sat beside me and gave me a kiss on the forehead.

"I don't know what happened, but it's better not to be stuck in that day."

After she closed the door, I rolled over and hid in my blanket. That was the most disturbing scenery I have ever seen. Up til now, it still disgust me. They were brave enough to do it with the front door not locked, too. All those smiles I've seen from him were fake. He is nothing but a pathetic horny bastard. I should be able to move on from this infatuation. In fact, I think I've actually moved on. Not totally, but almost there. Yeah.. I think I will move on. Marina's coming over later, too. Maybe I was just missing the company of another that's why his presence felt important. I just probably made him a substitute for Marina. I think that's it! And since Marina's coming here, then there won't be a problem anymore! I am a genius.

I jumped out of bed, wore my glasses, and brushed off that negative vibe all over my body. I kept myself busy by doing the household chores and reading some of my mom's old novels. It was mostly horror and murder. I didn't know my mom was that interested in gore, though. Her smile really hides her dark side.

The sun was passing through the glass slide near the sofa. I let it touch the edge of my feet as I let my hair fall from the other edge of the couch.

"I'm bored."

My brother was forced to play outside with his friends by mom that's why I'm currently alone and bored.

Doorbell ring

The clock says it's only 10 AM. Marina sure is early. I stood up from where I was and headed to the front door. When I opened it, Tanaka-san was standing with Marina beside him.

"MISAKA!" She pushed me down the floor with a big hug as my head was blank for a second.

"I missed you soooo muuuccchhhh! I thought I was gonna be lost forever. Thankfully, this person knows where you live. I didn't know you were popular in the neighborhood!" She kept rubbing her cheek against mine while her hands are tied behind me.

I sighed as I stood up with her clinging to me.

"You could've told me you would come earlier than yesterday, though. I even bothered to buy you a souvenir." I looked at Tanaka-san who was awkwardly standing behind us. "Oh, Marina, this is Tanaka-san. Tanaka-san, Marina."

"A pleasure to meet you." Tanaka smiled widely like last time never happened.

"E-eh!!!!!???" She removed her grip from me and took a closer look at Tanaka from head to toe. "Interesting."

"Odagiri Marina! The pleasure's all mine!" She said with a smile on her face. A silence took over her as her face looked so pale. "M-misa. Bathroom. Where?"

"The door near the sofa." She hurriedly ran towards where it was leaving me to attend to Tanaka.

"Come in." I said with a calm voice.
