chapter 28

Rafae Pov.

I woke up with a headache. Before I could stand up from the bed the door opened and Lind came holding a cup. She looked beautifulwith her hair messed up and in her night gown.

"Hi handsome. Today you slept longer than usual. Here's a cup of strong coffee. Recommended for people like you." She said sounding happy.

"Ha thank you. You have no idea how I feel right now. I need this more than anything, except you. I need you more." I took the coffee from her hands and took a sip. It was refreshing. Strong just like I want it.

"Lind I'm sorry about everything. I should be helping you but it seems like I'm putting pressure on you." I needed to say this. Lift the weight off my shoulders and for her to know that I mean well for her.

"You have done nothing wrong Rafael. All you do is to love me and that helps me a lot." She smiled at me. Her smile is so beautiful. Before I could kiss her my phone rung. I picked it up.

What a way to ruin the moment. It was Josh. My partner. I wonder what he wants now.

"Hi man." I answered the phone.

"Hi Rafael. There's something that I want to inform Lindsey about. It's about Jacob." I looked at Lind she was busy doing something in the bathroom to notice me exiting the room.

"Yeah. What is it. Speak." I said in the hallway.

"Jacob is sick. She requested to speak to Lindsey. I think that he's about to die."

"What! Are you insane. What makes you think that she will agree to that?" I'm so angry right now. I almost smashed my phone on the wall.

"He begged. Please try man. He seems broken. I think that he means well. Who knows? Maybe Lind will be able to find peace with herself once she has spoken to him. "

Maybe, oh Lord how I'm I going to tell this to Lind.  She will be broken. Knowing her I think she may consider going. She will be curious as to why Jacob wanted to tell her.

Lind Pov.

I returned back from the bathroom and Rafael wasn't in the room. Maybe something came up. I changed into something more presentable than this night gown. Rafael came in. He looked down. 

"Rafael is everything okay." I asked concerned. If something bothered him than it must be serious.

"No I'm not." He paused I wanted him to continue telling me what's wrong.

"What is it." I was impatient.

"Remember Josh." I nodded my head to say yes. "He just called to inform us about Jacob. " What on the heavens does he wants now. Doesn't he get the point. He's in jail now.

He continued. "Jacob is really sick. He's about to die and he wanted to talk to you. " oh Lord.  When things are starting to work out he decides to show up again.

"Why would he wants to talk to me. Isn't he done enough already." This is starting to irritate me now. Why does something bad always have to happen to me.

"I don't know Lind." Rafael said as he came closer to me and gave me a hug. "But I promise that he would never hurt you again." He kissed my forehead. I believe him.

"What do you think I should do?" I freed myself from his hug and looked at him in the eyes.

"Do what you feel like doing." That was it. I could tell from his tone that there was nothing more he wanted to say. I thought maybe he would say I shouldn't go.

After the talk we remembered my mom so we went to have breakfast together with her.

"Hi mom."

"Hi Mrs Grey." Why does he say that. He should be used to my mother by now.

"It's about time you guys came down. I'm starving." If only she knew that we forgot that she was here.

A lady came in earlier to make breakfast. Rafael said that she is one of Maria's workers. She was pretty and neat.

Today we were having breaking on the patio outside. The weather was perfect. The Sun was peeking out of the cloud and it made a yellow bright colour outside, which made the  mood more exciting. It is April so we were experiencing Autumn. I love south African weather. I can't wait until it'ssummer again.

As we set down our breakfast was served. For a few minutes we ate quietly.

"Mom, uhm.. something came up." I paused and before she could say what I continued. "Jacob requested to talk to me. They say that he's sick." My mom looked shocked.

"Do you want to go."

"I don't know mom. I think that I should and hear what he wants to say." Rafael looked up in disbelieve as if to say are you sure. "I think it's high time I face my fears. Maybe I can be able to move on easily."

Rafael took my hand in his and said what he said earlier to me. "Do want you want to do." But this time it sounded so sincere.

"I think that I'll go. What about today. Will it be fine by you Rafael? " he nodded his head as he swallowed down his eggs.

"That's okay. As long as it suit you." He said with understanding. As I always say. The sooner the better.

"I'll come with you too Lind." My mother added.

"Thanks mom." I smiled at her as to extend my gratitude.

We finished eating our breakfast while we talking about how great the weather is and Rafael commented on how my brown eyes light up under the Sun. If only he saw his.

"What time do you want us to go so I can make an appointment." Rafael asked me while he was taking a shower and I was brushing my teeth.

I spit out the Colgate content out of my mouth before I answered him. " maybe this afternoon."

"That's fine. I'll make an appointment for two p.m. "

I was about to rinse my mouth when Rafael came out of the shower and I choked on the water. What the hell is wrong with this guy. I almost died.

"Raffy!" I yelled.

"Lind I'm sad. Please give me a hug." What. Is he mad. I'm blushing so hard right now.

"Get away from me crow." I yelled again. This only made him worse. He smirked playfully at me and I could see what was coming. He came closer to me slowly and hugged me.

"What. You've never been hugged before?" This guy. Really.

"No."

"Then what is it. I'm just sad right now."

"You are getting water all over me." He took a towel and dried himself. Phew!

"That's reasonable so I'll leave you... for now."  He lifted my chin with his index finger and left the room to get dressed in his walk on closet. We have different closet but they are both walk ins.

When he left the bathroom I felt a liitle sad though. Why did he have to leave. Because you asked him to dumb - head.

We have two more hours to get to the prison where Jacob is held. All fingers crossed that everything goes according to plan, which is to hear him out that's all.
