I woke up and was confused for a moment. The tangled roots of the tall thick trees seemed unfamiliar to me. I then noticed that we were on a light brown horse, and someone's hands were on the reins in front of me.
Memories started flooding back to me."Legolas?" I asked still hastily, my voice cracking a little bit.
"Oh, good, you're awake. We'll be heading into the Woodland Realm soon." He said. I felt my heartbeat quicken. I have always wanted to see the Woodland Realm and to see the beauty that lingers in there.
Suddenly, there were Orc screeches coming from behind us. I heard Legolas curse in Elvish and the horse started running faster toward the Realm. The trees started to thin out and there were great, tall beeches with grey trunks and green and gold leaves. I stared in awe at the magnificent sight.
Ahead, there were two, big wooden doors that were embedding into the cliff's side. Two elf guards stood in front of the doors.
As we approached the doors, Legolas helped me get off of the horse and some other Elves took the horse to the stables. I was still slightly light headed from before.
"There are Orcs coming this way. Tell the Chief Guard. Hurry!" Legolas said to the Guards. They nodded and one of them went to go get the Chief. The other opened the doors for us to come through.
The inside was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. There were stairs that led to different places, the roots of trees intertwined with the walls, and on top of the highest staircase was where the King sat. I breathed in and the aroma of pine and wildlife surround me.
Legolas led me to the King and we bowed to him.
"Ada, more Orcs are coming. I sent some Elves to kill them, but I'm afraid we may be outnumbered." Legolas said to the King. He had premium blonde hair just like Legolas and I, and he wore a crown of berries with leaves. He nodded.
"I will send more of I have to, and I'll go myself." His voice echoed through the Realm. Then the King's gaze lifted to me.
"Who is this?" He said slightly glaring. I felt my heart beat so loud I thought that he could hear it.
"Ada, this is Amarawyn. She was chased by Orcs and I found her unconscious." Legolas said to the King. He looked at me intently and then nodded.
"She can stay if she wants to." The King finally said in a soft voice. Legolas and I both nodded and turned to walk down the staircase. I wondered to myself why he looked at me that way....as if he'd known me as if I was his long-lost daughter...
I was in my room that Legolas told me I could stay in for awhile. I looked around. There were stone walls and floor. A nightstand was placed by my bed that I was sitting on. A single torch on the wall lit up the room, along with the moonlight through my window.
I heard a knock on the door.
"You may enter." I said, and Legolas came walking in."The King wants us." He said. I got up and followed Legolas through the dim, stone corridor.
A few moments later, we were back where we were earlier. The King got off his wooden, carved throne, and swiftly walked towards us. He started to speak,
"I got a message from Lord Elrond from Rivendell. He wants you two to go to his Council in about five days." I looked at Legolas, confused why Elrond would want me, but Legolas was still looking at his Father.
"The meeting is about Sauron's ring." There was tension in the air as he said this. I saw out of the corner of my eye Legolas shift uncomfortably.
"A young Hobbit names Frodo Baggins has brought it to be destroyed, but he can't do this himself. I want you two to go to the meeting and see what you can do to help." We both nodded and said thank you.
As Legolas and I were walking, I couldn't stop thinking about what would happen if we were to go to destroy it. I felt like I was going to be sick just thinking about Sauron.
"I feel as nervous as you." Legolas's voice made me jump. I breathed in, trying to calm myself. I nodded agreement.
I turned to look at Legolas and he looked at me.
"You don't have to be afraid to speak." He said softly to me, making me feel tingly inside. I smiled and he returned it.
"I just don't rally talk much. I've been alone for many moons, so I don't have anyone to talk to." I answered.
"Well, I'm here if you ever need it." He said to me, and then walked to his room to go to bed. I smiled and went to my own room.
I felt something, but a thought in the back of my head told I shouldn't feel that. I got ready for bed and laid down. Too many thoughts were on my head right now to worry about what feelings I had for him.
After a while of hard thinking, sleep took me and I had a dreamless night.
