Colton couldn't see anything, and something squeezed his arm.

Then there was a bell, a gentle tinkling. Instantly, a wave of pain coursed through him, from an unknown source. He screamed, echoing in his own ears. He panted heavily when the pain ceased.

The bell rung again, this time sending bullets into his skull. He writhed in the chair and his restraints, screaming in pain.

The third time the bell rung, Colton froze, preparing for the pain. There was none, and he relaxed, until the bell rung again, setting his arm on fire.

It went on, again and again, the bell ringing and then pain, and sometimes it would ring and there was no pain. He learned to be scared of the bell because it often brought the pain. He was trained to be scared of the bell.

Then he could see as someone pulled off a blindfold of sorts. (it seemed) fitted over his eyes. They held a tiny golden bell. They rang the bell, and unwillingly, Colton tensed. A ghost of a smile shadowed their face as they pulled the black back over his eyes locking him in darkness. He was tired, sagging in his seat, but he could not rest, as the bell rung again.

"The test was a success," Marilyn chirped happily as she handed Seto a file folder, stuffed with papers.

"Hmm?" Seto asked confused.

"The fear conditioning on Subject ACDAS67, the Alpha Angel."

"Oh." Seto rubbed his forehead as his thoughts seemed to get foggier and foggier. He already had gone to the hospital ward once and didn't want to stall by going again, and he drowned out the headaches and pain with potions, maybe more than he should've.

He found the notes he hid in the stack of papers on his desk. Notes about Supreme Alpha Angels. He'd decided to keep silent about his ideas for now. It would be difficult to do anything if it didn't cooperate.

Traitor

He yawned gently before laying his head on his desk and falling asleep.

Colton felt the gentle touch of a smooth hand along his cheek, brushing gently. His half open eyes looked up to see his friend, Rebecca looking down at him with an expression he couldn't place.

She blushed, embarrassed as she brought her hand back sharply. The red of her hair seemed to have crept into her cheeks.

Colton groaned pain as something throbbed in his stomach, his arms, his legs. It all hurt.

"Did they do it to you too?" She asked softly.

"What?"

"The thing with the clapping," she seemed to shrink. Silence ruled as Colton thought. Then he clapped. She jolted away from him in an instant, and he had his answer.

"Yes, but with a bell."

"I wish I could just go home," she whimpered.

They sat in silence for sometime before Rebecca squeaked out a few words.

"I'm cold."

As Rebecca's eyes slowly closed, an unfamiliar warmth surrounded her. Her eyes snapped open as she felt feathers brush her skin. Her head snapped back, turning to see Colton sitting directly behind her, his wings wrapping both their torsos. Through the fabric of his shirt, she could feel the warmth that radiated from him, the warmth that her thin body lacked. A blush crept up her cheeks, and she said nothing.

He said nothing.

They sat in their warm silence together, and something about it, they liked.
