Summer's POV
"She spilled it to him?" Luke confirms, leaning on the glass counter.
"Yes. That bitch even mentioned my name!" I reply while filing the clients' records in chronological order.
"And you didn't even tell me? You didn't tell your lovely boss, Summer?" Andrew feigns hurt.
"So that you could have a chance with her, ew Drew, grow up!" I roll my eyes.
"Just because I don't treat you as my employee, you dare not forget I'm your boss", Andrew deadpans and Luke chuckles.
"It's 6:30 by the way" Luke reminds me.
"Yep, you go get your car out of the parking lot and call me," I tell him while putting the file in the drawer. Luke and Andrew do their 'bro handshake' and he exits the office.
"Your appointments for tomorrow are in this file here," I point at the drawer, "Monica was on a half-day so I filed them instead", I inform him. Locking the drawer, I throw the keys towards him and he catches them perfectly.
Andrew's a psychologist, rather the only psychologist in town. He's four years elder to me. His clinic is on the last floor of the town's hospital. I wanted a part-time job to kill time after school so I joined Andrew's office two years back. There isn't much to do because most of the work is done by Monica, Andrew's secretary. I only have to handle the love-struck high-schoolers who need assistance, online customers and feedbacks. (Basically all clients with love issues) Besides, I'm an expert love guru so I love my job.
Andrew is Luke's maternal cousin, so most of the time he's in the clinic, annoying me. The salon where he works as a hairdresser is under renovation for two months and therefore he is currently jobless. So, he comes to the clinic after school just trying his chance with Monica. Luke, like most other guys, is totally into older women.
Since we were to meet Archie today at seven, Luke came here for passing the time and asked me what happened with Riley yesterday when I filled him in, excluding the part where he called me cute, of course. He doesn't have to know that. Neither do Juliet and Blair.
"I'll be leaving now Drew. Bye" I exit the clinic and take the elevator for leaving the hospital.
Luke is waiting outside the hospital entrance in his Chevrolet. I headed straightaway for the passenger seat and Luke starts the car. I switch the radio button on but it doesn't start.
"What's wrong with this?" I start fumbling with the other buttons but it still doesn't work.
"Quit tryna start it, it doesn't work", Luke sighs.
"SINCE WHEN?" I inquire.
"Last week"
"Ugh Luke, you seriously need a new car." I groan. I am not whining but his car has a lot of issues and he has to keep on repairing it every now and then.
"I agree but you know how hard dad works at the army headquarters and still doesn't get paid enough. Mom, well whatever she earns goes all in the daily expenses and even though I earn a lot, she doesn't use it and has kept it in my college fund. With so much going on, I cannot even think of a new car, Summer" he says wistfully.
"I know Luke, I know. if you don't want to take up the power ranger job, I'll cover it up for you, dude. What are besties for?" I place my hand on his.
"Nope. Ima do it. Besides, it'll be an insult to my father as an army officer if I, of all, deny it" he asserts.
"True that"
That's what I like about Luke the most. Even through rough and harsh times, he is always the optimist.
So basically, our school has a reserved quota category where the children of the soldiers are given admission and scholarship and that's how Luke's in our school as well.
