Chapter 3

Summer's POV

"I almost forgot about that despicable scrap of iron, to be honest", Riley said after he heard the plan. "Until nosy Miss Cartwright had to bring him up", he adds.

Juliet, Blair, Luke, Riley, Blake, Troy, Aubree and I were stood in a circle outside the school gate. I was astonished, sure, but never this pleased to see Riley Reynolds in my life when he came and that too on time. But I might have to reconsider that now.

"Fine then, hand us your energem and fuck off", I roll my eyes.

"You and I both know you don't want me to leave. Ima stay, don't worry, all thanks to that desperateness of your call", he smirks.

"Oh please, you and I both know you're here only to feed your curiosity", I smirk back.

"Let's finish our job first? Y'all can always carry on after that", Luke chips in.

"Yes yes, everybody listen to Lukey. So, what are we supposed to do exactly?" Aubree batts her lashes looking at Luke. And all this while, I thought she was after Riley. Am I missing something here?

"So", Luke clears his throat, "Lukey? Really Aubree?"

"Ugh, why is everybody going off topic?" Juliet groans.

"Aubs, it would be kind of you to zip your mouth and let us all focus" Blair gives a tight smile to Aubree.

"So you're telling me I am the one distracting everyone? It's not my fault God gave me such abilities alright? Just admit you're envious of my looks, Nelson" Aubree smirks to which Blair scoffs.

"Y'all really think this bimbo is worthy of that power?" Blake points at Aubree. Blair just looks at him in awe completely forgetting what she was going to speak.

"I don't know about y'all but I cannot bear feeding these mosquitoes any more of my blood", someone's voice from behind cautions us all.

All of us turn to look at its source when we see Keeper, a woman who looks in her early twenties and Archie. Archie?  What is he doing with them?

"Isn't that the nerd who gave you the info?" Riley narrows his eyes on Archie, asking me.

"Yep. But why is he with them?" Juliet furrows her brows and answers for me.

"My apologies to startle y'all like that. I am Keeper, the guardian of the ener-"

"We were so not aware of the fact" Aubree scoffs, cutting Keeper off.

"Just shut up already" Blair elbows her while Aubree gives the oomph sound effect.

"These are the chosen ones? Keeper, you really think they are capable of defeating Sledge? The chances are very slim" the woman standing in between Keeper and Archie shakes her head while her eyes scrutinising us all.

"Us mortals can be mistaken Kendall, but not the energems. Thousand years ago, they chose the dinosaurs to safeguard them and now when Sledge has returned, they have designated themselves to these teenagers. The energems have bonded to them and these are the team of chosen rangers." Keeper explains the woman, who I am guessing is Kendall.

I look at Archie who's looking at Aubree who's looking at Riley. Do I see a love triangle forming here? I'm sorry to be imagining such stupid things at the moment but seriously, I don't understand what's going on and I have a feeling, this Kendall lady dislikes us already.

"Archie told me he narrated to you the story of the energems, Summer. So, I assume you all know it by now too. Well, I am Kendall but you can call me Miss Morgan. As you're not already aware of the fact," she glances at Aubree and then continues, "I was learning lab science when Keeper approached me two years ago and with the use of technology, he asked me to develop something which would harness the energems' powers and connect them to the DNA's of the chosen ones. I came up with a software which would help you all, to transform into rangers by the way of computer-generated anima-"
