Olivia's POV

I look at my alarm clock. 13:00. Shit, I overslept. Oh fuck it, it's a Sunday! I turn to my left, expecting to see Nate but he wasn't there. 'He must've went out' I shrugged and slid my phone open. I checked my social medias since I had time. Most of my notifications were from Carson's fangirls lol. They're actually so nice though and I get more followers so I don't mind 😏.

Speaking of Carson, where was he? At first I assumed he was in his room but then I opened up Snapchat and saw him and Nate being idiots at the Chipotle near our house. I chuckled to myself. Nate is one of those social people who gets along with everyone, lucky for me. Everyone in my family loves him! He's a great guy and I'm glad to have him.

Then, after five minutes of stretching I finally got out of bed. I was looking forward to making a good ol' breakfast for myself and watching some Netflix. Once I came out of the bathroom I headed downstairs. Looking at my phone, I put my foot on the top step of the stairs. However, the stairs were insanely slippery and I lost my balance.

My pulse quickened as my body tipped forward. I frantically tried to grab onto the railing but they were just as slippery as the steps. It all happened so fast I didn't even have enough time to brace myself for the impact the only thing I could do was scream. The air flew out out my windpipe as I whacked my head against the steps. The sickening pain hit me like blinding light to the eyes.

There was an unbearable throbbing in my head while my helpless body slid down the stairs. My arms and legs scraped against the sharp edges of each step as my body finally ended at the bottom of the stairs, limp and unable to move.

I felt as I just been stabbed with a sharp pin repeatedly all over my body. Deep red blood blurred my eyesight and my head felt as if it was going to explode! I was in so much pain I couldn't call for help, I couldn't even cry. All I could do was remain at the bottom of the stairs as the pain seared through my head to my toes.

Since every second seemed like an hour I don't know how long I was there for. But it felt like an eternity. An eternity of ferocious, unbearable pain. My head banged like a drum and my arms and legs felt sore. I swear to god if I had a knife I would've killed myself. I would've done anything to escape the pain.

 The throbbing in my head got worse and worse, my eyes began to flicker and eventually my body gave up...

Carson's POV

Nate was hungry and suggested we go Chipotle. Obviously I couldn't say no, we're talking about Chipotle here! It was a blast, Nate is hilarious! Not to mention the food was literally sooooooo good! For a few hours it seemed the feelings paranoia and anxiety had disappeared but if only I knew it was going to be replaced with something much worse...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We had arrived home and Nate unlocked the door. "Liv, we went to Chipotle. Don't worry we got leftovers!" He yelled. I laughed slightly following him into the house. Nate poured himself a glass of water while I sat on the dining table scrolling through my phone. For some reason Olivia didn't reply to Nate's greeting. "Liv?" Nate tried again but there was still no reply.
"She's probably in the bathroom or something," I said to him.
"Yeah, lemme check," he nodded, taking a sip of his water. I continued to stalk people on Twitter, oh as if you haven't done that! I came across a tweet by Jordyn it said 'When two friends become lovers, that's ordinary. When two ex-lovers become friends, that's maturity...' I smiled a bit understanding what she referencing to. Although it still hurts it's nice to know she still wants to be friends.
I liked her tweet and mentally made a note to call her later. Before we started dating we used to ring each other up and just talk for hours on end. I want it to be like that again and taking her tweet into account I'm sure she does too.
I then heard a glass smash and the smile on my face disappeared. "SHIT!" I heard Nate's voice. I left my phone and ran to where I heard Nate. My heart literally stopped when I saw what had startled Nate. It was Olivia. She was on the floor with a cut on her forehead which still had blood flowing out of it. "Fuck!" I ran to her.
Once I had knelt down I felt something slippery on the stairs, "I-is this... Oil?!"
"F-fuck! I-I'll call an a-ambulance!" Nate said running to the phone.
I looked at my unconscious sister and felt sick to the stomach with anxiety. I took her pulse, she was alive. Barely. I then looked to the slippery substance that had been smothered all over the stairs and the railings. That's when I knew this was no accident. Somebody did this on purpose. I looked around in a petrified craze and that's when I saw it.
From the angle I was at the light shone onto the walls revealing a message written in oil. 'Watch your back...'
