Passion
Chicago, IL, 2016I opened up the message app as the time turned from 11:59a.m to 12:00a.m. I went through my recents, not having to look very far before tapping on Savon's name. I dialed his number, and he picked up on the last rang.
"Happy Birthday Bestfriend!", I shouted into the phone. Instead of getting the response I thought I would get, I got the complete opposite.
"Pash, I know you ain' call me at 12 in the mornin' just to say that."
Grumpy ass.
"You so ungrateful, just go back to sleep.", I smirked because I knew this would make him feel bad.
He sighed before saying,"Thank ya' Pashybaby. Shouldn't you be sleep anyway lah' mama?", he chuckled, his laugh sending waves throughout my body.
"I should, but you know I got Insomina", I reinformed him. Insomnia made it difficult for me to go to sleep, and if I did, it wouldn't be long before I woke right back up.
"You took ya pills?", he asked, referring to the sleeping pills I no longer had.
"I ran out yesterday.", I spoke somberly, I hadn't had the time to walk to the pharmacy because school and work took up my whole schedule this week.
"Put on some clothes, I'a be there in 10.", he yawned. I hung up the phone, getting out of bed to slip on my Nike slides. I had already had on some joggers and a T-shirt. I looked in the mirror fixing my fresh box braids back into its sloppy bun. A couple of minutes later, Savon called me saying he was outside. I walked outside to see his all red Dodge Charger.
"Took ya ass long enough.", he turned the into the ignition, driving to the pharmacy. About fifteen minutes later, I had my medication in my hand.
"You know you need to gon' head take that shit na'", I rolled my eyes at him telling me what to do.
"Alright mom", I spoke sarcastically as we walked back to the car.
"That's daddy to you.", he winked. Corny ass. If he wanted to play games though, I'd play too.
"Okay daddy", He cheesed, looking over at me.
Niggas love when you called them daddy.
I smirked, trying to contain my laughter, but failed.
"You ain' shit Pash", he pouted.
"Can we get something to-"
"Nope."
"But Vonny, I'm so h-"
"That ain' my problem. Should've thought about that before you decided to bash people feelins'", I smacked my teeth and turned around in my seat. It wasn't long before I fell asleep.
"Wake ya fat ass up.", Von smacked my thigh. Just as I was about to cuss him out, I realized where we were at, the parking lot of Waffle House.
My eyes lit up, and I knew Von could tell because I seen him smirk out the corner of my eye. He knew I loved this place.
"Whatchu waitin' fa? I gotta make a call.", he spoke taking the key out of the ignition.
I rushed in there, already knowing what I wanted to order. I leaned against the counter, waiting for Von since I had forgotten my phone at the house. He walked through the door a couple of minutes later.
"Welcome to Waffle House. My name is Keisha, how may I service you today?", she smacked on her gum viciously and held a grin like a Cheshire Cat showing her gold teeth. Her long, red nails tapped the counter awaiting his answer. I rolled my eyes. She was doin' too much.
"I'm good lah mama, I just came hea' to feed my girl." Yeah, let her ass know.
She giggled trying to flip her stiff weave over her shoulder, but it wouldn't move. "Okay."
"That was real cute.", I looked at Savon.
"Man, here we go."
"I'm good, but I don't know how Brooke would feel about that.", I stated being petty.
"Brooke? Who is that?", he looked around. He loved to pull that card. In front of me, he would treat ole girl like shit. But when I wasn't around, they were all hugged up on Instagram.
I just nodded my head, cause I ain't have the time for him. My food was placed in front of me. I dug in, not holdin' back. We left there, and he dropped me back off at home. I got out closing the door, but he called my name.
"Pash!"
I turned around, walkin' back to his car. "What?"
"You comin' to my party tonight?", I shrugged, but in the back of my mind I knew I was.
"Aight, bruh. Lemme know when lose this attitude." , he pulled off.
I opened the door, locking it. He's the only person that could make this emotional. But it's crazy after all of these years, I still got it for him.
