Getting Rid of Ron

Chapter 4

Draco stalked into Potions, earning an evil eye from Snape, but an even eviler look from Hermione as he sat down next to her.

As Snape continued his lesson, Draco turned and whispered.
"Why did you run away?"

Hermione didn't answer. She had already received a weird look from Harry as Draco sat next to her, so she didn't want anyone else to start thinking....

"Hermione, answer me." He pressed.
Hermione whipped her head round.
"Leave me alone!" She hissed.

Draco laughed coyly. "Hermione, I should have known that after we kissed you would go back to being your proud, arrogant, true colours."

"You of all people are calling me arrogant?!" Hermione snapped back.

"Mr. Malfoy, Miss Granger, do you have something to share?" Snape's voice cracked through the air.

"No. Sorry sir." Hermione said quickly. She shot Draco a final look before packing her books and moving to another empty desk.

At the end of the lesson, Hermione made sure that she was the first to leave the classroom so that she couldn't be chased down by anyone.

Too late, she thought, as Harry came running up to her.

"Hermione! What in Merlin's name has gone on with you? And why was Draco talking to you?"

Hermione hesitated, then pulled Harry away into a dark corner. Draco saw this and walked past, adding a crude remark -

"Hey watch out Potter, if you kiss her, she'll only run away!" He laughed to himself and carried on walking.

Harry turned to Hermione.
"You have some explaining to do, and what was that all about?"

"Harry. I'll try and answer all your questions, ok? Just don't tell Ron."

Harry looked confused.

"Okay, so basically icaughtronkissinglavenderbuthedidntseemesonowiwantobreakupwithhimbutthenikisseddracoandidontwanthimtothinkthatimleavinghimfordracobecausethenidbethebadguy."

Harry's eyes were wide. "Um..ok then. So what are you going to do?"

"I don't know..." Hermione mumbled. "If I tell him I saw him, then I'll have to say about me and Draco."

"I still can't believe you and Draco kissed."

"Shut up Harry, I really need your help."

"I have a plan...maybe. But you might not like what it requires."

Hermione paused, biting her lip.
"I don't care. As long as I can get rid of Ron."

"Speaking of which, here he comes. Act Normal." Harry muttered.

"'Mione! There you are! What's up with you?" Ron said, grabbing her hand.

"You know...I just got a bit emotional over the necklace...it was a sweet gesture." Hermione faked a smile.

"Where is it? I saw you take it with you."

Hermione thought to the moment she threw it off the Owlery....
"Let's just say it's somewhere safe..."

Ron smiled and kiss her forehead.
