~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The King, that's what they call me, they mutter it under their breath as i walk by, things like, "that's him, The King." It should make me feel good, proud of the hard work I've put in over the years, especially considering I'm one of the highest ranking agents here, and yet also the youngest at 18. Instead, i feel nothing. My feet thump lightly against the floor, it's quiet this morning, i was called in early and no one else is here. just me. i approach the door of my boss' office and rap my knuckles firmly against it, there's a faint, "come in." from the other side, so i push the door open and step inside before shutting it and bowing slightly from behind the desk. on the desk are numerous pieces of paper, two dirty coffee mugs and a nameplate reading 'Ukai'.
"ah yes, good morning Mr Kageyama." Ukai shuffles a few papers and looks up at me, "how's my best agent?" i shrug and plop down onto an armchair situated in the corner of the room.
"dealing." He leans forward and taps his fingers on his desk,
"you should speak to your Sensei with more respect."
"sorry."
"I'm kidding. anyway, to the reason i called you in here, since you completed the last task i gave you faster than i expected, I've decided on another mission. Although you've done SS rated missions before, this one is different, hence why i brought you in early, I'd like to have you started and on the field before noon tomorrow." Ukai leans back in his chair and runs a hand through his dirty blond hair before adjusting his tie.
"sure, sounds good. what is it?"
"i want you to help us  catch The Little Giant."
I'm stunned into silence.
"he was spotted near Kamagasaki, Osaka, at a skiz fight unsurprisingly. i want you to go undercover as a slum dweller, find him and get his location, then call in back up and we'll arrest him. i assume you know all about him, and why we need to catch him, i trust you will be able to complete this task. your life will be in danger rest assured, The Little Giant is an SS rated fugitive, but not much else is known about him, be careful. any questions?"
i feel like I'm in a classroom and i should raise my hand to ask to go to the bathroom, Ukai gets patronising sometimes. i shake my head no.
"good, clothes and gear have been sent to your office, change and call front desk when you're ready, you will be dropped off nearby out of sight, then the rest is down to you King." he grins and gestures toward the door, i stand up and walk over to it, pulling it open.
"ok.. i guess." i mutter and leave, my head is spinning, The Little Giant is one of the worlds most wanted, and I'm supposed to catch him. i get to my office and pick up the clothes on my desk, ripped black and dust encrusted jeans and a dark green t-shirt with a camo jacket, i change into them quickly and briskly rummage through the contents of the rucksack on my chair, it's mainly cans of food, bandages, there's a small penknife too, but that's about it.
"great." i sigh, "can't take my gun."
ten minutes later i call front desk like Ukai told me, and head down there. there's already a car waiting for me and i get in straight away, the driver turns and hands me a pendent necklace,
"this is from Ukai, it's how you'll communicate with him." i nod and take it, clipping it round my neck. the light pressure in the hollow of my neck feels strange, but comforting. the drive is 8 hours long, and i spend it sleeping mostly, but as we get closer i watch out the windows. we park in a small secluded alleyway, and i open the car and get out, giving the driver a thumbs up as he drives away before adjusting the straps on my backpack, suddenly aware of how alone i am. i bite my lip and take a breath, before heading out of the alley. i decide to follow the main stream of people, my logic being that The Little Giant may be in a crowd somewhere, pick-pocketing or causing havoc some way. i try to walk like the others around me, my back slumped and my eyes downcast, not with the good posture and prestige of a government officer, the slum dwellers may be poor, but they're not stupid. loud shouts and cheers catch my attention, a crowd. i move towards where i think the noise is coming from. my eyes are drawn to a cluster of people around the entrance to a back street.
"damn, it's too crowded." i mutter. i glance up at the building on one side of the street and put my hand on the top sill, then place my foot on the bottom sill and begin climbing. once I'm at the third story, i turn and sit with my feet hanging off the edge of the sill. i take in the scene below me and realise, it's a skiz fight. a fight just ended, with a bloody and beaten guy crawling off the makeshift ring, and another guy with brown hair stood, looking smug.
"Go Oikawa-San!" i hear people cheer, Oikawa huh? so that's his name.
"who's next?" he calls, searching the crowd. his eyes lock onto mine and he grins. "how about you." everyones eyes dart to me sat above them, my heart speeds up, but i breathe deep and shrug.
"no thanks."
there are mutters from the crowd, and someone calls out, "you've gotta fight! that's the rules! grab his legs!" a wave of people run forward and jump up at my ankles, trying to pull me down. i try to scramble away, but someones hand catches my ankle, and they're about to drag me down, when a voice rings out loud over everyone else's.
"Hey Oikawa! sorry I'm late. you ready for a rematch?" the crowd instantly forgets about me and turns to the person who spoke, cheering louder than i ever thought would be possible. i squint, and see a small figure stepping into the ring, their hands on their hips. It's a boy about my age, wearing full black, with an eye patch across his left eye and bright orange hair sticking out from under a backwards snapback. the most noticeable thing about him though are his piercing amber eyes. eyes I've seen many times before, studying criminal files.
"The Little Giant," Oikawa says, through gritted teeth. "How nice to see you again."
