I don't see what you see
You see what she pretends to be
I see a girl who is crying
You see a girl who is smilingThe girl I see wears a mask
It doesn't seem like a hard task
She straps it around her head
Feeling like she is deadLike a burden to everyone
She doesn't want to be shunned
So she tries to hide her face
So as not to be disgracedShe doesn't understand why
But she doesn't want to cry
Because if she does
They'll see who she is trying to hideShe thinks that if she shows her face
To show her true colors
Everyone will hate her
For who she really isBut if you look real close
Into her eyes
You will see her soul
And every tear she criesShe doesn't want to be alone
But she knows that if she has friends
There will always be a chance
That she will be torn apartFor those you love
Will eventually see you for who you are
When you let your guard down
They will tear you to the groundAnd that is what she tries to avoid
Fake people that will hurt her
When she loves them
That is why she has a barrierTo protect her when the time is right
The darkness of imposing light
The fake mask she wears
To hide the darkness she keeps inside

My Poetry
