At her locker, Jasmyne was too focused on putting away her old books and grabbing the right new ones for her next few classes, she didn't hear the approaching footsteps headed towards her.

"It's later."

She jumped, spinning around to see Monty looking at her with a small smile.

"Jeez Monty, give me a heart attack why don't you." She hit him softly in the arm.

He laughed raising his hands in apology. "Sorry my bad, my bad."

Jas waved him off "yeah, yeah." She shut her locker and turned, facing him dead on. "So what was it that you said?"

Monty's eyebrow furrowed in a way that she thought was absolutely adorable.

"Oh yeah" he snapped her from her thoughts. "I said it's later."

Jasmyne stared at the boy in confusion, not understanding what he was talking about.

Seeing her confusion, Monty leaned on the locker next to hers and began explaining.

"Earlier this morning, you said that you'd see me later."

Realization finally came to the girl and she nodded slowly in understanding. "ah yeah and now it's later."

"Yeah, it's later..." He repeated, bringing his arm up and rubbing the back of his neck.

Things got awkward fast..

It was a hundred times easier for the De La Cruz boy to just simply give the girl compliments on her pictures because then she wasn't looking at him.

He couldn't visibly make a fool out of himself in front of her behind a little phone screen.

"Yeah.. so I'm gonna head to class now." She jut her thumb out behind her , signifying that her class was down the hall. "Nice seeing you 'Gomery."

Before he could fully process what he was doing, Monty grabbed her hand before she could leave.

"Wait."

Jasmyne looked down at their hands before looking up at the clearly ever so nervous boy in front of her.

"Are you uh- are you going to the game tonight?"

"The baseball game?" She inquired "Yeah, I always go even though it's not exactly my favorite sport, I go to support Jeff."

"Good, would you maybe I don't know, come to support another player?" On the inside, it felt like he was sweating bullets.

Why am I so damn nervous he repeatedly asked himself.

She's just a girl, he tried to comfort.

But taking one look at Jasmyne Mann, Montgomery De La Cruz knew she wasn't "just a girl".

Never had he felt like this for anyone before.

Her smooth voice broke him out of his thoughts.

"And which player would it be that I'm supporting?" She knew it was him, she just thought it was cute seeing him get flustered.

Montgomery De La Cruz wasn't one to get flustered.

But here was, totally out of his element.

Anyone that knew him, knew he was a confident and cocky as could be.

Who knew one girl would be his weakness.

Monty could feel the skin on the back of his neck becoming raw with the out of habit nervous rubbing he was doing while talking to the beautiful girl in front of him.

"Me, will you come support me?" His eyes stared into hers hopefully.

There was a pregnant pause, at least Monty felt there was one before she smiled showing her pearly whites.

"Of course I'll support you, even though I support Jeff, I still support the whole team." She put emphasis on the word "whole"

At her words, Monty's head hung low. That's not what he meant nor wanted.

Jasmyne couldn't handle the defeated look on his face, she felt bad messing with him like how she was.

Seeing that their hands were still held together, she sent a gentle squeeze to his.

"I'm just kidding Monty, of course I'll come support you."

He lifted his head, a bright, confident smile was now painted on his face.

He had one more important question though.

"Wear my varsity jacket?"

"I'm sorry what?" Jasmyne shook her head "You said what now?"

The older boy just smiled, "I said" he took a step closer to her, "wear my jacket?"

Coming down from her initial shock, Jasmyne nodded her head "I'd love to, I'll need something to keep me warm." Her shoulders bounced lightly from the small laugh she let out.

Turning and looking around the hallway, the two saw that it was nearly empty.

She turned back towards towards the brown haired boy. "I have to get to class now but I'll see you later?" She gave his hand one more squeeze then turned and hurried her way to her class.

She almost missed the fist pump Montgomery De La Cruz threw in the air.

Almost.

Okay honestly, I hate the way I write when it comes to "reality" because I feel like my writing isn't the best but I can't just have it be all instagram y'know? There needs to be more detail so please bear with me and my horrendous writing. Thank you!
