~ROME~
A blue-eyed woman with brown hair stepped down through the staircase and darted her eyes toward us who were still sitting on the dining chairs with the pancake filling our mouth. Her arms folded and she looked hostile, "Do you know what time it is now, Kids?" her deep voice scolded us.
I put all the remaining half into my mouth, causing me to choke a bit but I managed to pull it through. Catherine Larson or Kat for short snorted and put the fork and knife on the plate as she gave up to finish her breakfast. She raised her butt from the chair and slung her thin, rainbow-colored Dolby bag on her shoulder. Mom tapped his wristwatch, signing for us to move faster. I put on my glasses laying next to my plate. Even though my eyes have a long-sighted, it was not too much bad. But I often wear my reading glasses.
It was our fault actually. We woke up late and forcing my mother to be late because of us. Hope Dawson, my beautiful and sweet stepsister had tried to wake me up, but I was too tired because of the play last night. So, she finally gave up on me and went to school with his dad, my stepfather. Lisa Stanford, my best friend and neighbor, must be with them because she was alone in her house.
Sorry for my insolent manner, my name is Romeo Larson and it's Rome for short. I am still in sophomore, while Hope is in junior and Kat is already in her senior year. That makes me the youngest in the family. My father died in a car accident when I was 13, and a year later my mother married with a businessman. My mother also works as an accountant and that's why she was so pissed because we made her late.
Larry Dawson, my stepfather, had asked her to quit work but she said she would be bored at home. Since the kids are already grown up, so he allowed her to keep working.
Mom and Kat had been already in the car and I could hear Mom honking several times. I put on my shoes quickly and grabbed my bag as I ran toward the car. Kat, sitting on the front seat, snarled at me through the opened window, "Get your ass up quickly, Dickhead! You makes us later than we should be!" she sulked.
Mom scolded her to watch her language and I said sorry after I got into the car. Kat is never even once being nice to me. Yes, I'm a nerd at school and she is popular and everybody knows that. But Hope is also popular and she is so nice to me. Sometimes I can't say who the actual my stepsister is.
Finally, we arrived at my school, one of the best public schools in Manhattan. After we both kissed our mother's cheek, we quickly dashed into the school and went to our supposed to be class. Mr. Irvingstone glared at me as I got into the class late. Everybody was staring at me and I felt so damn embarrassed. I said sorry several times and he let me sit in my seat.
I sat down, heaving a big sighed and prepared for the book of Math. Liam, my other best friend who sat behind me, tapped my shoulder and I turned to him, "Why are you late?" he asked.
"I was overslept," I huffed and turned my head to the front again.
"Don't tell me you had a wet dream because Lisa's tongue was forcing its way into yours last night," he chuckled.
"Shut up, Liam!" I scolded him. It was so embarrassing that people kept teasing me about that. Mom and Larry didn't stop talking about how great the last scene was, but Hope didn't like it so much so that she kept ignoring me last night. Perhaps she was still upset with me so that she gave up waking me easily. Kat, of course didn't come because drama club isn't her popular thing.
Larry kept telling me to date Lisa because she is beautiful. Lisa is surely a cute girl. She has pretty dark brown eyes with a light brown long straight hair. Her smile is mesmerizing. I actually had a crush on her. But I feel dating her will be very awkward to us. She is my best friend and I don't want to lose her if she rejects me. I am only a bookish unpopular bullied nerd guy and nobody likes me besides my parents, Hope, and my few best friends.
After the break bell rang, I hung out with my three besties Lisa, Liam, and Emma. We walked through the hallway and saw some popular jocks bullied a nerdy freshman. Lisa is too sweet to be bullied by the guy although she often gets the sinister look from the popular girls or somebody who gets jealous of her. Emma has a problem with her anger management so nobody touches her. That's only left me and Liam being bullied because I am geek and Liam is gay. I am accused to be gay too because I befriend with Liam.
"Look at those first circle guys do! Immoral!" Emma complained but we actually couldn't do anything about that.
We call it the first circle for the popular kids who like to bully the weak like myself or Liam or other nerd boys. The second circle is for the popular kids that do neutral, though they also seem don't care about what happen to us.
"Don't create any attention or they will get us too," Liam hinted. So we walked passing through them and they suddenly noticed us.
"What happen fairies? Why are you so scared?" one of them said and laughed with the others. Liam kept whispering to us to ignore them. He insisted that to Emma because if she burst into her anger and shouted at them, they would surely get us the next time.
"Lisa, just stay away from those fags and be with us," another one spoke, but Lisa ignored him.
We kept ignoring them until my step stopped and I forgot about everything around me. Emma snorted and sighed, saying that I was again being ridiculous.
Those three girls were about to counter us. God, why is she messing with my mind and I can't resist it, I thought. It was the girl in middle, the leader of those first circle kids, Juliet Hemingway, Julie for short. She is the goddess from the heaven and everybody admits her beauty is beyond compare. She lives in the upper east side and is very rich. That's why she's so popular. She walked with his two best friends, Heather Anderson and Lara Schneider. She flipped her brown hair gracefully and her hazel eyes glanced at me. Just her glance and my heart began to melt like a burnt marshmallow.
Lara, being the closest to us suddenly snapped her fingers right in front of me, "Dream on, Loser!" she sneered and I backed off a little. Emma snarled at her and they both began to throw glares to each other. But Liam quickly pulled my hand to leave immediately.
"Just get out of here before those guys make us their next target," Liam said and the others followed.
But I couldn't turn my sight on Julie. She is my first crush and I can't get over her because we are always in the same school since elementary. I realized that I liked her since my second grade and I can't even forget her until now. But what Lara said was right. I can only keep dreaming on.
I really can't find Brant Daugherty in his nerdy look. Please just imagine it by yourself. However, he will put off his geek outfit soon. Uh oh, spoiler!
