Going to the Army/Chapter 1

"Hey Mum, hey Dad. How was your day?" I asked. They looked puzzled at my happy mood. "It was fine. How was your day, sweetie?"
"Glad you asked. It was wonderful!" I chirped. They seemed a little... disappointed, at my happy mood.
"What? Why are you guy's looking at me like that? Do I have something on my face?" I asked. My Mum but her nail nervously. I saw her eye's water.
She started to sob. "Why are you crying? Mum, Dad, what's going on?!" I asked. My Dad held her close.
"Sweetie, we didn't know how to tell you this. But... you're going to the army." He said. You know that sound affect that's like DUUH? That was the perfect time to play it.
"The army? Are you guy's playing a joke? Is it April Fool's Day?" I asked. He shook his head. "You're friend, Lora is it? Well Lora is going as well. Her mother will pick you up. You'll have a friend. You're leaving in about an hour." He said. Water started to fall down my face.
"You're lying! I know it!" I cried. My Mum shook her head. "I packed your bag. It's upstair's." I ran upstairs into my room. I slammed the door shut behind me.
I dug through a green duffel bag. Two beige tank top's, two dark green, two black, and two brown. A pair of combat boots and eight pair's of camouflaged khaki thingy's. 8 pair's of black socks and that was it.
I started to cry. "Sweetie, please come down. We want to say our goodbye's." I heard my Mum say. I stormed down the stair's.
I heard a car honk and waved goodbye to my parent's. "We love you!" They shouted as I walked off. "I love you." I whispered.
For the whole drive I sat in silence. I couldn't believe this was happening. I eventually fell asleep.
I felt someone shake my shoulder's. I yawned and my eye's fluttered open. I looked to my left and saw Lora.
"It's time to go. I am so sorry this is happening, Katelyn." She said. That's when I remembered what was happening. I wanted to cry.
I scooted out of the car and grabbed my duffel bag. A guy with muscles that had muscles, took us to our cabin.
The mattress was springy. I called the top and threw my duffel bag on the bed. "Change into a exercise outfit. We'll introduce ourselves and then do training." He barked.
He kept a straight face. I could tell he had no emotion. I changed into a brown tank top and the camouflaged khakis. I tied my combat boot's tight and put my hair in a ponytail. I shook my brown hair and walked out of the cabin.
We sat in a circle and I hated ever second of it. Me and Lora were the only women. Everyone stood up and said where they were from and their name and stuff like that.
When it was my turn I stood up. "My name is Katelyn. I am from Los Angeles, California." I said. Some of the guys whistled.
"We have a city girl! What are you doing here, bumpkins?" A guy asked. I don't know why, but for some reason I had these instincts.
I walked over to him. "You know what a city girl could do to you, right?" I asked. I punched him in the nose and walked back to my seat.
Some of the guys laughed at him. "Ow, she broke my nose! Chief, she broke my nose!" He whined. Blood dripped down his chin.
"Go to the nurse, Dylan. You are a baby!" He barked. "Okay, now everyone stand up. I want you to do fifty jumping-jack's!"
I stood up and started to do jumping jacks.
1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8...9...10!
That was the worst thing I had ever done. I was out of breath. "Now I want you to do thirty push-ups! Start!" He barked. I dropped to the floor and did them.
"You guy's are puny! Wake up at 6:00 A.m. for training!" He yelled. My bone's ached. As we started to walk off Chief shouted, "Hey Katelyn! Stay back, I need to talk to you!"
I walked to Chief, or more like wobbled. "Yes, Chief?" I asked. He patted my back. I gave a weak smile. Oh that hurt so much. It was more like a punch on the back.
"Good job punching Dylan. I see good thing's in you." He said. I smiled weakly. "Thanks, Chief. Goodnight!" I shouted as I walked away.
Lora let me borrow some of her pj's. They were just a black shirt and black basketball shorts. I thanked her and put them on.
I climbed the ladder to my bunk and flopped down. Worst mistake. I screamed profanity and Lora laughed until she couldn't breathe.
It felt like it was made out of wood. I was so tired so I didn't care. My eye's shut and I fell asleep.
