"That still doesn't answer my question," I said as I stood straighter. "I just want to know. Why the hell would you become a pacifist and let someone like Toga Yagari become the top?"

Just as the words came out of my mouth, the headmaster's office door opened. I turned around and saw who it was. It sure as hell wasn't Zero.

"Are you that upset that I am the top vampire hunter, Michiyo?"

"Of course," I said as I looked to him with a glare. "You don't deserve that name no matter how many vampires you kill."

"Why is that?"

I shook my head, the fury brewing inside me. I stepped away from the headmaster's desk and refused to look at Toga.

"Sorry, to bother you, Headmaster," I said as I bowed my head.

I walked out the door and shut it as I heard Toga's mouth opened and words spewed from his mouth. I did want to ask the headmaster about the night class. I wanted to make sure the rumors were true. I wanted to make sure Zero was certain vampires were coming to Cross Academy.

I walked back to the apartment, taking my time even though Zero was waiting for me. I looked around the town, scanning everything since I never do any other time. This town somehow felt different than the other towns I've been in with vampires roaming the streets. This town made me wonder what was really wrong with this place.

I caught a glimpse of Kaname in the window of a shop. I stopped suddenly and turned to look fully into the window. It was Kaname. I walked into the shop; there was no shopkeeper that greeted me when I walked in. I didn't care either. I walked straight to Kaname, unaware of what was really going on in his world. I thought he was with that girl I saw with him at the soiree.

"Hello, Michiyo," Kaname said as he looked to me.

"Hi, Kaname," I said as I bowed to him. I don't know what it is, but when I am near Kaname, I feel stronger.

"How are you at Cross Academy? I haven't checked on you in a long time," he said.

"It's fine, Lord  Kaname. I am doing well at Cross Academy. I'm even on the Disciplinary Committee with a fellow student of mine." I wasn't about to tell him it was a long-lost friend of mine. I don't know what Kaname would do if he found that out.

"Disciplinary Committee," Kaname repeated. "If I recall, Zero Kiryu was on that committee."

My heart skipped a beat when he mentioned Zero. Any other name and I would have shrugged it off. Since he mentioned Zero's name, it was more alert.

"Yes, he is," I said. "He's my partner." And my trainer, I thought as I remembered everything Zero has taught me.

Kaname turned to the person who was near him. With one bow, the person was gone and Kaname and I were alone. He turned to me, scanning me over.

"Your health might be decreasing," he said.

My heart dropped and stopped beating for a second before starting back up again. Not my health again.

"I'm prepared for the worst," I said. I knew it was a lie. I had yet to tell Zero.

"Good," he said too calmly. "I must take my leave now. Good bye, Michiyo."

I walked out of the shop when Kaname disappeared to wherever the person who was with him went. I headed to the apartment. I knew my health was decreasing to near where Ichiru's was. I could feel it deep within me. I wasn't the same as when I saw Kaname at the soiree. There was no way I was as strong as I was before Shizuka attacked the Kiryu family.

I continued my walk back to the apartment. I didn't want Zero to wonder where I was. I walked into the apartment and looked up to find Zero waiting for me.

"Hey, Zero," I said, trying not to drop the hint that I just saw Kaname and that what Kaname said was on my mind more than before.

"Where did you have to go?"

"I went to talk to the headmaster," I said confused. Don't let him know you just saw Kaname Kuran. Just remember the tension between them at the soiree.

"About what?" Zero sounded concerned.

I half-smiled when I thought about what I went to see the headmaster for.

"I asked him why he was a pacifist," I said casually. I sighed and turned to Zero. "He was such a great hunter and I admired him some; like how I admired your parents."

Zero stopped in his tracks. He paused for a moment. "Yeah, you did."

I admired them because they looked like people who had everything figured out with life. I knew they had some suspicions that their twins were trying to train me. If they knew, they never told their secret. Part of me thinks they figured it out when I got my cut on my arm.

I pressed my semi-cold fingertips to my forehead and combed them through my hair. This wasn't feeling right. I started feeling colder. It wasn't like I was getting some common cold either. Maybe Kaname had something there when he... No, I can't think like that. Not when Zero is right there in front of me.

"Hey, Michiyo, are you feeling okay?" Zero asked suddenly. He sounded concerned.

I removed my cold fingertips from my forehead. "Huh? Uh, yeah," I said as I looked at him. "Why?"

He shook his head. "Nothing," he said. "You just didn't seem like..."

Alright, Michiyo, you're caught time to spill everything about after the Shizuka attack.

"Zero, actually, there is something I need to tell you. It's a little about what happened to me after Shizuka attacked."

Zero stared at me; his gray eyes filled with concern and wonder.

Just as I opened my mouth to speak, there was a knock on the door. Zero and I looked toward it before turning back to each other.

"Go ahead and get it," I said. I wanted to be alone. I wanted to form the words in my head before I just told him. Like I said, I wanted to.

"Kaito? What are you doing here?"

"Zero, I hear you have a little roommate staying with you now. I just wanted to meet her."

After a deep sigh, Zero let him him.

"So, where is she?"

I smiled lazily and turned toward the door. He stopped when he saw me.

"Hey, Kaito," I said. "I heard you wanted to meet me."

I looked to Zero, who had a genuine smile on his face, and looked like he wanted to burst out laughing.

"Y-Yeah," he said as he rubbed the back of his neck.

"Well then," I said as I stepped to him. "Hello, I am Michiyo; Michiyo Kiryai."

Zero chuckled as he looked to Kaito and back to me. Something tells me he hasn't laughed like that in a long time. I wondered what had been on his mind, or what happened to him. He certainly isn't the same boy I remembered five years ago. And he sure as hell isn't Ichiru. So, is there a secret Zero is keeping from me and why hasn't he told me yet?
