"Who was it..?" Jenny asked as she stirred her chai tea before slowly sipping it. I had came over to her house the day after I saw the man in my backyard. My dad had told me that it would be best if I didn't stay over there for the night until the issue was resolved. I had called Jenny that morning and this was one of the first times I had ever heard her voice without some slick tone or sarcasm attached to it. She had come right over to come pick me up and we drive around going for coffee before coming back to her place.
"I don't know. My dad thinks it might have been a creeper." I say slowly as I sit at the breakfast bar and put my head down. Jenny takes along breathe and then as I look up, I see her shrug. "Oh, so a pedo." she said as she slurped her tea. I sighed and roll my eyes as I sit up ruffling my hair. "Basically." I say as I take a bite of my scone.
Soon there's a knock on the door just as we begin to head to the kitchen and I sigh feeling myself get a little uneasy as I stare at the front door. Jenny turns around looking at me before nodding towards her room. "
"Wait there in case this is that creeper again." she says slowly as I walk back there and she heads to the door. As I sit in her room, I can't really hear much of what she's saying but it doesn't stop me from feeling a bit odd in the pit of my stomach.
She walks back into her room where I'm sitting Indian style on the bed trying to calm down. "Who was that?" I squeak out. I guess the relaxing didn't really help after all. She smiles and shakes her head as she flips down next to me on the bed. "No, girl scouts." she says as she shoves a box of lemon cookies in my hands and I almost jump for joy a little.
"Oh my god, I haven't had these in ages!" I say as I practically rip open the box and cookie packaging before shoving a cookie in my mouth. "mm.. " I say as I savor the flavor before rubbing my eyes a little and laying back.
Jenny smiles and takes one for herself. "Wanna stay for a week or something? She asks. "You seem more relaxed now, plus I'm sure it was nothing!" she say. I turn my head looking at her and nod smiling. "Deal, I'll text my dad and ask." I said but Jenny laughs. "Already asked him, let the fun begin."
I looked at her and laughed as we turned on a movie and I finally started to relax. Maybe I was trippin' yesterday night when I saw that man. Maybe he wasn't even looking at me, I just need to hang out with my friend.. This is definitely helping.
I was just overreacting.
