HARRY

"Sirius? Hello?"

Rubbing the back of my head, I peered through the letterbox.

Landing had not gone well.

I was too tired to concentrate properly and missed the top step, falling backwards.

I massaged my head, trying to stop the throbbing.

Yep. That's going to bruise. Brilliant.

And to top it off, I couldn't get into the house. I guess the death eaters had done something to it. Or I was just being thick.

I knocked on the door again, wincing at the loud noise.

You'd think, being a wizard and all, I could just use my wand. Well. Apparently not. I did try. But the only result I got was the doorknob trying to bite my hand off.

Which is not as funny as it sounds.

It was at this point that I decided to give up, and conclude that either Sirius had suffered at the hands of the doorknob, or he was still at Hogwarts.

The second one seemed more likely, because it hadn't been a full day since since the battle.

What a wasted trip.

Not worth falling of a step and getting attacked by a doorknob.

Sighing, I sat on the step, trying to figure out what to do.

I could go back to Hogwarts I suppose, and find Sirius there.

And go see Ginny.

I wanted to leave her, let her grieve and not give her time to be angry at me for what I had done to all her friends.

Yet at the same time, I couldn't bare to leave her. I needed her.

I didn't want to be selfish, but I couldn't help myself, I needed to be near her.

"Merlins beard!"

"Sorry, sorry, sorry, Harry!"

GINNY

After talking to mum, I went back outside to find Harry, wondering back to the tree, only to find no Harry.

Confused, I headed back to the castle, and walked straight into Sirius

"Ah Ginny, how are you? Not too damaged I hope?"

"I'm fine. How about you? You're arm doesn't look too good"

Which was a rather polite way of putting it. The left arm was coated in dried blood, and had some kind of green paste on the wound.

"Just a minor cutting hex, nothing Madam Pomfrey couldn't fix. I don't suppose you've seen Harry anywhere? He seems to have vanished, and I wanted to make sure he was coping okay"

"Last time I saw him he was at the tree, he said he wanted space. Then mum said it would probably be better if I was near him to make sure he was alright, but he isn't at the tree."

"Did he say anything about where he might have gone?"

"Well he did say he was going home, but I assumed he meant to griffindor tower. So that's where I was headed"

Sirius looked confused for a moment and looked around as if Harry would suddenly pop up from behind a tree.

"Home? Well he can't have meant the tower because I just came from there. Maybe he meant the Burrow? He's not the type to stick around when he thinks everyone's going to blame him. Chances are he'll have apparated out of here."

We started walking slowly back to the castle, surveying the damage.

"But he knows mum and everyone is here, he wouldn't have gone there without permission, much too obedient. The only other place....well....maybe he went to your house? From what I gather he, Ron and Hermione went there for a long time when they were in hiding."

"Worth a try I suppose. He might think I'm there anyway. Might be best if just you go, don't want to crowd him, especially when that's what your mum suggested, after what she did to Bellatrix I doubt anyone's ever going to disagree with her again!" Sirius said, chuckling.

"But I've no way if getting there, I never learnt to apparate, Snape banned it, probably so no one else could go on the run"

Sirius stopped and though for a moment. Glancing around he picked up a a fallen piece of rubble from the castle walls. Pulling out his wand he whispered "Portus"

And handed it to me.

"Here, portkey, should drop you off outside since you've been there before, set to leave in a few more seconds I should think, although I was never brilliant at that spell, so it might be a while"

"Thanks Sirius" I said, examining the rubble, waiting for it to glow

"Ginny?"

I looked up; "yeah?"

"Look after him, won't you?"

"Of course, I'll never let him go again. Not this time"

And with that the portkey began to glow and I felt myself being whirled around and around, lights flashing everywhere.

Then suddenly I saw the house and began falling through the air, landing on the top step and.....

"Merlin's beard!"

Whoops.

"Sorry, sorry, sorry Harry!"

I clumsily get off him, being careful not to fall of the top step and brush myself off.

"What are you doing sitting out on the street? Why aren't you inside?"

I say looking at Harry incredulously.

He gets up, rubbing his head and staring at me

"I think a better question would be what on earth you are doing here?"

"I came to make sure you were alright, Sirius was looking for you and we thought you might be here so he made me a portkey, are you alright? Sorry, I didn't mean to fall on you. But it can be quite hard to direct yourself when flying through the air"

He smirked at me

"You're small and light Ginny, you did no more damage, it was more the shock of a person falling out the sky than anything else"

I laugh and turn towards the door

"Good point. So why exactly aren't you going inside?"

"I tried but the doorknob - "

"Bloody Hell!"

I yell, jumping away from the door, grasping my hand

" - Bites....."

"And you didn't think to mention that earlier?"

I glare at him with my arms crossed, whilst Harry is doubled over with laughter

"I did try!" He protested

"Never mind, seeing as we're not going to be getting in there anytime soon, let's go back to Hogwarts. It's nearly lunchtime and I'm sure Ron and Hermione will be wondering where you are"

"I guess you're right. Grab my arm, we'll apparate back"
