Chapter 12
Luke

2016

I love her.

I can honestly say that after only two weeks, I love Lucile Rachelle Wallace-Tresvant.

I love her with all of my heart and soul and absolutely nothing can change that.

I've never had one woman in my life not only take the time to plan out a birthday party for me but also arrange it with my mom. I didn't even know that she got in contact with my mom until I walked into Ralph's and Cassie's house on my birthday after boot camp.

I wasn't making a big deal about it; it was just a regular day in my opinion and I made that known to everyone— especially Lucy. She wanted to get me something so bad but I told her no— we just started dating (without official titles yet).

I just wanted a quiet day. But I'm glad she didn't listen to me.

"Happy birthday, Boyd." Lucy smirks in my face as I walk into the studio behind Algee and Keith.

"I don't want anything, LuLu." I say automatically. Her smirk is too nice today.

"Oh shut up. I didn't get you anything." She rolls her eyes. She struts away from me in a way that makes me hope that maybe she is lying and my gift is waiting for me tonight in my bed.

"Yeah. She really didn't." JJ says as she walks passed me. I just roll eyes before before getting ready to practice for the next few hours of my life.

"Alright. We'll end early today because it's someone's thirty-second birthday." Brooke ends practice after the Littles, the guys, and I practice Is This The End.

Everyone claps and wishes me Happy Birthday.

"Really, Brooke, you don't have to end practice early. It's just any regular day." I say. Caleb throws a towel at me. I throw it back.

"Dude. Shut up." Caleb scoffs at me. All of the Littles give me harsh glares.

"Take the gift, B." Dante says.

"Fine. Thanks, Brooke. I appreciate it." I roll my eyes.

"Alright, roll out before we change our minds." Steph says and everyone finds their way through the door.

"Come on, Luce. We're gonna get lunch for Luke's b-day." Woody calls to his newfound best friend. I can't even be jealous. They have to play best friends on screen. It only makes sense that they would become such good friends in such a short amount of time. It's a great relationship.

"Y'all go ahead. I'll catch up. I have some stuff to do," LuLu says and that sparks my interest. She jogs over to my side to kiss my cheek. "I'll see you in a few."

"Yes, ma'am." I kiss her quickly so her watchful uncle Brooke won't snitch on me to her dad, brother, cousins, and uncles.

Kim and JJ follow me, the guys, and the Littles out of the studio to the parking lot. We get in different vehicles and drive to a restaurant to eat. Almost half an hour goes by before LuLu turns up.

"Damn, girl," Elijah teases. "About time you got here. We almost thought you got kidnapped."

"More like sidetracked," LuLu rolls her eyes as she takes the open seat next to me. "I started doing one thing and then my daddy called me to do another."

"Everything good?" Jahi asks. LuLu gives him a strange look that I can't place.

"Everything's great." LuLu answers and everyone seems to understand the double meaning in her words. It's like she's speaking in code and everyone else but me understands it.
