The noises of gunshots and yelling interfered with my auditory sensors, but finding Maximum was not a problem once my x-ray vision was working. I was able to see several people get into a heavily reenforced car and ran over to the area just in time. However, the armed officers also caught up and were determined to stay in my way.
"Put down the gun, now!" One ordered and the other approached from behind me. I noticed the car taking off and cursed under my breath. If I was going to try and catch Maximum, then now would be the time.
"I apologize but..." I started and ducked quickly and swept the man's feet out from under him. I then lunged back and flipped the other officer on top of him. They fired at me, but I let the bullets bounce off and punched of the officers in their temples.
Unconscious, minor concussion to one target
I may have punched one of them a little too hard, but I was under some pressure to keep moving. I took one of their guns to add to mine and ran quickly to catch up to the car. It was now a block away but I figured if I could stop it in time then I could get to Maximum. Besides the fact that my orders were unwillingly replaying again and again in my memories, I personally wanted to find out what was going on. Why did Maximum want my command key?
I fired six shots and they hit the car, but unfortunately bounced off the sides. They made several dents, but no real damage. That is when I immediately decided that I hated bulletproof cars, but then an idea popped into my mind. I ran down the block and hurled one of the guns as if it were a boomerang through the back window of the limousine. The reenforced glass shattered from the impact and the car swerved around for a few seconds before regaining control. I couldn't change the strength of my bullets, but I knew I was strong enough to break any window. It wasn't efficient or particularly beneficial for completing my mission, but it made me feel better that I got to ruin Maximum's car. I went to chase after the limo but then got swarmed once again by an army of soldiers.
"Get on your knees, now!" One of them ordered over a speaker. I kept walking and they fired several warning shots with actual bullets this time and threw smoke grenades designed to interfere with my senses. Of course, it did not work. I looked around and quickly calculated that, although I was surrounded, I would survive the fight and probably win with limited damage to myself. However, it would result in the deaths of a couple dozen relatively innocent officers just trying to do their job. I was not Evelyn and could not bring myself to do that. I sighed to myself, a million different things running through my mind about what to do next. After coming to my conclusion, I slowly raised my hands up and knelt down on the street.
"We have one of the targets," the officer with the speaker said into a communicator,
"Restrain her and let's get back to base."Several of the guards aimed guns at me while others handcuffed my hands and even my ankles together. They stole my bag from me, which made me rethink not killing them, but I remained calm. I thought this was all a little much for just one person, even if it was myself, but I did not resist. The fact that both Maximum and myself seemed to be their targets intrigued me. There could be many reasons for why they were after us, although clearly they had no idea how strong I was or how resourceful Maximum could be.
"Where are we going?" I asked as I was shoved in the back of a heavily armored vehicle. One of the officers put a dark sack over my head while the other tightened my cuffs before answering me. I immediately switched my vision so I could see through the bag and decided to let the man speak for now.
"You have the right to remain silent," he started with a forced laugh,
"On second thought, you don't have any rights at all at this point. You and Mr.Caliber are being charged with so many things I won't even begin to name them. That's what the brainiacs at the base are for. You just be quiet and enjoy the ride and maybe you'll only get a couple life sentences."
