Chapter 1: Before
I hate these nights, when I get home, have a ton of homework and football practice. Welcome to my world. I'm Patrick McCabe. Just an average kid in an average town. Not much friends either.
"Yes! Finally finished with this crap! What's the point of math, 1+1=2? Ooh!!. Like seriously, when am I ever gonna use this stuff?"
"Complaining bout that math again Patrick?" My brother, Parker, said. "Just tell her your dog ate it or something like that."
"How old are you? Excuses will get me no where if I want to get to Harvard!" I stated.
"Harvard ha! Like you'll get into Harvard. You actually have to be smart and not have straight F's!"
"Oh ha ha ha. Your hilarious! I only had one F once and that's because I missed school for two weeks! And might I say, it was YOU who made me stay out by shoving that dirty sock down my throat! Literally! I had to get surgery to get it out!"

"Patrick, Parker! Get down here!" I had heard the worry in my mom's voice.
"Yeah?!" I screamed down
"I said come here!" She said.
"Ok ok fine god damn"
"Excuse me?"
"I said god dang!"
As me and my brother ran downstairs with curiosity filling our minds.
"Yes?" I say.
"We're going to your sisters house."
"What? Why?"
"There has been local outbreaks of an epidemic that kill people and makes them kill other people."
"Like how?"
"By eating them."
"Oh my god." I murmured to myself.
