The Abused mate

Chapter Nine James' Pov (Edited)

I shifted and was getting ready to attack the vampires but before I could they pulled a gun out and shot me. I collapsed but I got back up and killed every single vampire that was there. Bell must have shifted not knowing or something because she was in her wolf form. Since I didn't have the strength to shift back and pick her up I grabbed her by her scruff. She curled in on herself like a little puppy does when you pick it up by the scruff.

I took off running towards the pack hospital because not only was I terrified for my mates health but also my pups. Once I got there I ran right into the hospital and I barked my loudest bark.

"What happened? Are you guys okay," Max asked?

I growled at him showing him that my mate and I were both far from okay. He then led me into a room, I put Bell on the bed before collapsing for the second time.

"Come on James you can have the room across from your mate or unless you want to stay in the same room," Max said.

(Can I please stay in here with her.) I whimpered through our mindlink.

"Yes you can go ahead and lay on that bed," Max said while pointing to the bed on the other side of the room.

I shifted back and threw on a pair of basketball shorts. I looked down at my chest that was covered in blood. Max was hooking things up to my mate, my wolf was being quiet and that scared me a little bit.

*Hey are you okay Alex,* I asked?

I got no answer so I figured that he was probably sleeping so he could try to help heal me by tonight.

Max stared looking at my chest before he asked.

"Do you think you can go take a quick shower so you can clean that blood off," Max asked?

"Yeah I can," I said before getting up.

I looked at my mate one last time before going into the bathroom to take a shower. When I got done there was a clean pair of my boxers and a pair of my sweatpants on the sink. After I dried off I slipped them on and went back and laid down.

"You look somewhat better than what you did," Max said.

"Thanks I guess," I said while trying to get comfortable.

Max came back over to me with a pair of gloves. He started looking where I got shot at, he touched all of the spots and every time he did I winced in pain.

"I'll be right back, we have to take you to surgery right away," Max said before leaving.

I was brought out of my shocked state when I heard a whimper on the other side of the room.

*Mate go to mate,* Alex whined.

I got up but as soon as I did I had to put a hand on my chest. I whimpered because of the pain that I was feeling. As soon as I got close to Bell I grabbed her in for a hug with my free hand.

She was afraid to touch me though due to me being hurt.

"I'll be okay baby girl," I said before kissing her forehead.

"I love you," Bell whimpered.

"Bell you will be seeing me after the operation so please stop talking like you aren't going to see me again," I said while hugging Bell.

Max then came into the room and got me.

"Bell you can stay in this room because we will be bringing him back in here the operation is only going to take an hour if it goes well," Max said while looking down.
