A few of you have missed chapters... some of you missed number two so far. So go back, you won't regret it.
My chapters aren't short. Some authors just put whole spaces between every paragraph and every piece of dialogue. If you guys want me to do that, comment.

The answer left North stunned as Jack pushed himself up and began walking away, turning back around for a moment.

"Don't tell the others, okay?"

"Okay, Jack."

The winter spirit continued to his room.

No where was truly safe anymore, his encounter with Pitch moments ago was proof of it.

Momentarily, he considered just returning to Pitch's lair, handing himself in to be thrown into the nightmare king's dark and musky dungeons.

The though was quickly discarded.

He was honest with North.

Well, at least it's not punishment time. You didn't lie.

A tear slid down Jack's cheek, and he held back ugly sobs he knew were building in his lungs.

Well, looks like I spoke too soon. Should've known you'd be a weak bitch.

A faint knock shook the door "May I come in, Jackson?"

It was North.

"Enter" Jack mumbled, loud enough so the bearded man would hear him.

On entry, the man sat on the bed beside the winter spirit.

"I just though you may want to talk?"

"Thanks, but I'll pass."

"It's not healthy to keep your emotions bottled up, Jack."

"I don't care, it's not healthy to offload all your problems onto the people you love" Jack whispered, lowering his voice even further as he chocked out "I don't want everyone to leave me. I don't want to be alone."

"Alright" North coughed, clearing his throat before standing up and letting himself out, leaving Jack alone.

The winter spirit snuck into the bathroom after North left, adding another scar to his porcelain skin.

Only one cut today, Jack, you did good.

Jack nodded, smiling enthusiastically, giddy with joy.

He sat there, staring at his arms and smiling.

One cut, that was it.

He didn't lie, he didn't hurt anyone, he didn't bother anyone.

Just a few tears.

It was much better.

Jack knew that it didn't mean he himself was getting better, just that he was getting better at controlling his emotions.

That night, he even slept, nightmareless.

He didn't suspect what the king could be planning.

He woke to exclamations of shock coming from the globe room, and he shot up, running out his door and to the large room.
