"Well here we are," Lucy said as we came to a stop. "I will come in with you if you'd like," she questioned.
"Could you please," I said smiling at her then looking out the window to see the mansion type building that had a brick exterior wall, a water fountain in the front, and pillars. From the outside the building looked very old almost like no one wanted to live there but they had to. Once you entered tho it was a whole nother story, the interior was beautiful and bright almost like the owner Miss. Barkly. Miss. Barkly was young and beautiful she enjoy taking care of kids, sometimes I think she could run the orphanage by herself but she would get super stressed I'm sure. Lucy opened her door then mine. I got out and reach for Lucy's hand and she too it without hesitation. When we entered the building we were greeted by Miss Barkly herself,
"Well hello again Summer, we are glad to have you back it was quite quiet without you here," Miss Barkly said with an inviting smile on her face.
"I missed you to Miss Barkly," I said letting of Lucy's hand and running to give Miss Barkly a hug.
"I will see you soon Summer if you want to try another family," Lucy said before she left the room.
"So, tell me all about the Johnson's and I mean everything," Miss Barkly said motioning me towards the living room.
I told Miss Barkly everything.
"Oh my that family seemed so nice I can't believe that," Miss Barkly said.
In response I just nodded my head. After Miss Barkly and I talked some more she showed me to my room and let me get settled in, again.
"Summer? Is that you," I heard some question in a familiar voice. I turned my head in the direction in which I heard the sound and saw Emily one of my best friends. Emily was in Miss Barkly's care before me so she helped me adjust to life in the orphanage. When I leave to go to a foster home Vanessa and Kyla get the best of Emily. You see Vanessa and Kyla (and some other girls I dont know) travel in this pack and they find something to make fun of about certain people. Me for example, I have always been left handed and everyone else is right handed. Also I two different colored eyes one is green and the other is blue. Emily is perfect but some how they find something to do that hurts her.
"Emily! Is me Summer," I said happy to see her.
"Summer! Im glad your back! It was so lonely without you here," Emily said running at me with her arms open wide then slamming into me almost knocking me over. We giggled and hugged properly.
"What happened," I questioned worried because once I looked at Emily she had a bruise on her arm the size of a small fist. Emily rubbed the spot I was looking at before saying,
"Vanessa and Kyla got me when I was in the garden," she said as her eyes fell to the floor looking like I just hit or yelled at her.
"Vanessa and Kyla did this! I was gone for four days! When did it happen," I questioned even more worried and also furious.
"As soon as you left Monday," she replied quietly.
"Grrrr, I'm going to... I don't know ummm... I don't know what I'm going to do but in going to do something to Vanessa and her friends," I said ragging with anger.
"Ummm... You can't because Vanessa was adopted, Kyla was taken to a foster home , and Jade was transfered to another orphanage. As for the other they are still here but they won't do anything because Vanessa and Kyla aren't here to tell them what to do," she said trying to calm me down.
"Really! Wow, so much happened here in four days," I said surprised at the fact how much can happen over four days. "Well, now that I'm somewhat calmed down do you want to do something?"
"Yes, do you want to help me plant some flowers? Miss Barkly got some new flowers the other day but I haven't had time to plant them," she said with happiness and excitement in her voice.
"Sure," I said. Emily then grabbed me by the hand and dragged me outside.
Once we got outside I saw the piles of new flowers such as tulips, roses, bleeding hearts, daisies, and lilies. All of the flowers look so pretty together and made the place smell so good. Emily went running over to the pots and said,
"First we are going to have to weed and pull out the dead things..." Emily went on and on about what we were going to be doing and I listened half way because I couldn't believe how beautiful the place would look after. 45 minutes later we were finished and it felt like spring even tho it was the beginning of summer. Miss Barkly made me feel at home so it didn't take long for me to get use to the place. Before I knew it it was time for us the go to bed. Emily and I shared a room, the beds weren't the comfiest but at least it was something. Emily and I also shared a dresser the matched our night stands, white with gold colored handles. Our beds were both up against a window so every morning we could wake up to the sun shining in our eyes. Sometimes if I was a nice night we would open the windows so we could wake up to the smell of pine, dirt, and the flower and hear the birds chripping.
